Job purpose

Join our Engine Maintenance Centre, a cutting-edge maintenance facility where we deliver exceptional maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for the engines of Emirates fleets. Our integrated team excels in engine technical services (ETS), propulsion planning and logistics, and more, all within our advanced engine shops and test cell. With a strong commitment to quality and safety, we streamline processes to strip, inspect, and rebuild engines seamlessly in one state-of-the-art location. Join us to be part of a team where precision and excellence drive every operation.

As an engine overhaul engineer, you will supervise and mentor engineers, senior technicians, technicians, and mechanics to carry out engine assembly, disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repairs, refurbishment, modifications, testing, and rectification on all types of aircraft engines, engine systems, and engine components to a high standard at the Emirates engine maintenance centre (EEMC) engine overhaul workshop (EOW). You will hold approval to certify your own tasks as well as those directly under your supervision to certify and release to service work carried out in accordance with airworthiness requirements and the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) recommendations.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage the activities and work of direct reports by providing mentoring and guidance to ensure that work is carried out efficiently in line with individual targets. Assist with providing feedback to direct reports when targets or goals are not being achieved and work with the individual to improve performance.
  • Manage all tasks for quality and accuracy by utilizing knowledge of the engine overhaul process, company procedures, as well as the use of the ESM, IPC, CMM, SBs, and ADs. Ensure paperwork and MRO ERP system tasks are completed progressively and in accordance with regulatory requirements, MOE relevant procedures, relevant EPMs, and company policies.
  • Be liable for sectional metric responsibility for targets and planned work. Oversee allocation and training of staff, ensuring allocated tasks are aligned to individuals' approvals and competencies. Develop skills matrix and training programs for staff to meet sectional requirements.
  • Create and promote a safe working environment for all staff, ensuring direct reports have the skills, knowledge, and confidence to work safely in alignment with EEMC/EOW safety policy. Provide support and direction. Be a role model for desired safety behaviours and always lead with safety. Ensure reporting of any non-conformance in safety and quality immediately via company procedures. Act to mitigate any observed unsafe condition and prevent incidents. Ensure all 'near miss' situations are reported and highlighted to the line manager.
  • Ensure your own attendance and that of direct reports is in alignment with sectional shift patterns. Monitor direct reports' attendance and initiate steps in accordance with company capability and disciplinary regulations. Lead daily toolbox meetings, actively participate in all other meetings as required, and suggest, coordinate, and lead projects that contribute to improvements in process, increased efficiency, or better practice.
  • Assess staff competencies, skills, and ability to successfully gain self-certification approval. Assess senior technicians to successfully gain inspectors approval. Mentor technicians and mechanics and identify areas of improvement to achieve the desired skill level. Provide assistance and guidance to technicians with applications for approvals, focusing on detailed regulatory and compliance comprehension.
  • Own sectional metric responsibility for targets and planned work. Oversee allocation and training of staff ensuring allocated tasks are aligned to individuals' approvals and competencies. Develop skills matrix and training programs for staff to meet sectional requirements.
  • Manage effective achievement of unit goals through setting individual goals, managing performance, developing, training and motivating staff, and providing formal and informal feedback and appraisals to maximize subordinate performance.
  • Oversee efficient manpower management using the 145 roster or relevant roster for daily, weekly, and monthly tasks. Without compromising any human variables, maintain overtime within budgeted hours.
  • Effectively set staff annual business contribution evaluation goals and competencies through conducting quarterly and annual performance reviews.
