Key Responsibilities

  • Relevant discipline specific duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Develop, review, and approve site ITPs, QCPs, WPS, and ITRs based on corporate standard.
  • Coordinate with the customer's representative on all quality welding related matters.
  • Coordinate failure analysis and root cause analysis on welding related issues.
  • Plan, conduct, track, and report welding engineering investigations.
  • Monitor welding procedure and welder qualifications.
  • Verify that the welding related site activities are in accordance with the applicable codes and standards.
  • Monitor and control of sub-contractor welding repair rate.
  • Participate in the internal and external site audits.
  • Coordinate all the welding related inspections through the site welding inspectors.
  • Control all non-conformance reports related to welding and undertake remedial action.
  • Review the customer's specification and undertake relevant training to the site welding inspectors.
  • Monitor the implementation of the approved site QC plan.
  • Complete and coordinate the approval of the site's QC technical submittals related to welding to the customer.
  • Arrange toolbox talks/training in coordination with subcontractors.
  • Assure all technical welding documents relative to site quality control are current status.
  • Supervise sub-contractor welding engineers.
  • Prepare daily surveillance reports, attend quality walkthroughs, and report issues which need to be circulated as a quality alert.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree in Mechanical or Metallurgy Engineering or equivalent.
  • CSWP 3.2.2 or AWS SCWI certification.
  • International Welding Engineer (IWE) - preferable.
  • ASNT/PCN NDE certifications.
  • Minimum 10 years experience as a welding engineer.
  • Should have experience in oil & gas/petrochemical industry.
  • Should have previously worked with a major EPC contractor.
