About the job
Monitor and approve engineering procedures, plans and schedules for the execution of the civil scope of work associated with the Early Works Project and interface. Monitor, witness and approve (as required) the contractor's civil and design activities for the Early Works project. Acts as company's advisor in the area of civil project and provides expert services to develop, support and provide the expertise to achieve best practices for civil engineering. Directs and oversees screening and conceptual/detail designs for the new field developments and projects. Ensures correct and consistent design practices and design philosophies are applied in projects for different project phases. Ensures safe, economic and technically sound decisions are taken to meet the projects requirements and company's business objectives.
Key accountabilities
- Acts as the technical advisor in the field of civil engineering and provides necessary guidance and advice to the various asset teams within projects, technical support and other units/functions.
- Coordinate all communications and meetings with the EPC contractor regarding civil, structural engineering and design requirements as they may arise.
- Attend internal and external project review, progress and other meetings, as necessary, including those with contractor and others.
- Ensure supervision compliance in accordance with the company HSE policy, quality control, project specifications and design changes in the project.
- Make recommendations to procurement department on new vendors and sub-contractors related to civil work.
- Review various closed out reports such as technical studies, value engineering, peer technical reviews (PTRs) and ADNOC major projects IPR (Independent Project Review).
- Participate in various projects' design and technical reviews in the different phases of the project (Concept, Pre-FEED, FEED, EPC) to ensure full technical compliance to the civil and structural design requirements.
- Participate and direct the preparation and presentation of screening, option analysis and conceptual design work related to new field development in all field areas, as required by company's major projects approval processes.
- Initiate and coordinate the standardization of civil and structural design work, including design basis, specifications and philosophies. Ensure correct and consistent design practices (such as codes, standards and best engineering practices) are applied across various projects in different fields.
- Initiate new comprehensive studies, as and when required, for any major structural changes or expansions of assets.
- Participate in major and critical investigations related to structural failures and support.
- Verify the design integrity requirements for FEED and detailed engineering of major or growth projects.
- Support technically the contractors and suppliers pre-qualification process.
- Support the development of training programs in line with ADNOC directions and guidelines.
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor degree in civil engineering, structural engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum experience, knowledge and skills:
- 5 years' experience in UAE/GCC with relevant experience in civil engineering works and project management preferably in an oil and gas operating or petrochemical company.
- Professional certifications (if any).
