Job purpose

The Senior Engineer Well Integrity is responsible for maintaining and developing the well integrity management systems including WIMS standards, and relevant procedures and guidelines and delivery tools:

  • Conducts integrity system audit or review and assists Share Holder or Internal Auditors, monitors and analyses well integrity performance data, supports business units in the implementation of WIMS requirements and is the primary source of advice and information to business units and management on well integrity issues.
  • Provides awareness/guidance to involved parties on integrity requirements, processes and procedures.
  • Assists drilling, development and fields to develop and prepare annual wells integrity plan.
  • Assists in MOC applications/reviews and provides guidance and participates in integrity assurance/reviews.
  • Completes and ensures timely and accurate data/inputs in appropriate data sources.

Key accountabilities

  • Follows up and ensures the Corporate Integrity Standards related to wells integrity and relevant procedures and guidelines are adopted properly for all the well life cycle phases by drilling, asset development, operations and production teams.
  • Assures drilling, and field production and operations are applying and complying with well integrity management requirements.
  • Assures adequate wells integrity through design, construction, monitoring, and preventive/corrective maintenance by drilling, field production and operations for all well lifecycle phases.
  • Reviews, maintains, updates well integrity processes, conducts well integrity review, and monitors compliance with WIMS requirements.
  • Assures that corporate process is applied, maintained and adhered via WIMS performance, health checks, quality assurance and fitness for service.
  • Provides technical support related to WIMS requirements and communicates operating/critical envelopes limit for operated wells.
  • As required, communicates and assures the updated Well Integrity standards and manuals are properly adopted by all stakeholders for all the well lifecycle phases.
  • Calculates and sets annulus maximum allowable annulus surface pressures (MAASP's).
  • Defines operating envelope. Calculates high-pressure alarm (HPA) and triggers.
  • Carries out MAASP/triggers recalculation.
  • Conducts well integrity review and monitors compliance with WIMS requirements.
  • Reviews, maintains, and updates well integrity processes.
  • Establishes monitoring, surveillance and maintenance regimes for well barrier elements that are aimed at minimizing the potential risks of any impairment to well barrier envelopes.
  • Determines which of the barrier elements are considered safety critical elements that require performance standards and assurance tasks that confirm compliance with the WIMS standards.
  • Determines appropriate course of actions to address any well anomalies that are encountered during monitoring, surveillance and maintenance regimes.
  • Establishes risk of loss of containment considering well type, pressure, effluent, outflow potential, location, and environment against barrier redundancy.
  • Identifies the types of well anomaly and failure-related events that are possible for wells that are being assessed.
  • Assesses the integrity of all ADCO wells (prioritizes, risk assesses, risk ranks, and generates a clear risk ranking list with all risk registers developed along with clear action plans to properly monitor the integrity of critical wells and how to fix their integrity issues in compliance with CIS requirements).
  • Determines the potential consequences of each type of well failure-related event, and the magnitude of the risk of each type of well failure-related event based on the combined effect of consequence and likelihood.
  • Assures all involved parties are aligned with the well integrity requirements for all the well lifecycle phases.
  • Reviews reports of well integrity testing and tracks remedial actions to ensure all outstanding well integrity issues are captured in well integrity database for mitigating solutions in timely manners.
  • Completes and incorporates scattered data of well integrity into the WIDA System for better related monitoring system.
  • Communicates the analysis and trends of integrity threats to concerned parties and management.
  • Assures that verified well integrity lessons learned are captured and communicated to concerned parties.
  • Assures all well integrity requirements are managed either riglessly and/or being captured in wells prognosis and work over programs.
  • Provides technical support to asset development, drilling, and field production and operations for well intervention problems and solutions.
  • Assures drilling and asset operations perform work in accordance with the company's established and approved well integrity standards and procedures.
  • Identifies integrity opportunities; sustains integrity system improvements by recommending integrity best practices and capturing end user feedback.
  • Provides assurance to drilling and asset operation, by coordinating with well integrity engineers and with engineering & projects to ensure compliance with integrity requirements for the new projects (assistance in the preparation of SOW and interpretation of integrity requirements and deliverables).
  • As assigned, performs WIMS related duties such as participating in multi-divisional task forces, working groups, incident investigation teams relevant to well integrity technical issues.
  • Understands and promotes the company's health, safety and environmental policy and objectives; performs work in accordance with the company's established rules, regulations and approved procedures; intervenes to stop unsafe acts and practices; and is accountable for the well being and safety of own self and others, including all contracted labor force - unskilled, semiskilled, and skilled.
  • Plans, directs and actively participates in the ongoing training and development of own self, new hire, trainee, university student and subordinates with special emphasis on UAE Nationals. This includes assessing employees' training and development needs, directing the preparation of structured development programs, monitoring progress and counseling trainees on alternative career paths and job profiles available in the company.

Qualifications, experience, knowledge & skills

  • Minimum qualification: Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline (petroleum, mechanical or chemical).
  • Minimum experience & knowledge & skills: Minimum 10 years diversified experience in oil & gas production operations (drilling, completion, work over, and production & operations).
