Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

An accredited school in Sharjah is looking for a motivated English Teacher to join their talented team.

At the K-12 school their aim is to provide students with a first-class education and the best teaching and learning environment in which they aim to ensure that each student achieves their optimum potential academically, physically, emotionally and socially.

They work closely with their parent community in an effort to develop students who have all the necessary tools to be successful global citizens. Learning Environment
* Establish high levels of expectation as a member of a team by setting down clear guidance for students for establishing good standards of achievement.
* Promote the School's International Ethos of Respect for Self, Respect for Others and Respect for the Environment.

Curriculum
* To maintain the highest quality possible of teaching and learning in the subject in accordance with School policies and the guidelines of the external examination boards.
* Develop students' subject-based knowledge, skills and understanding alongside their capacity to learn, literacy and numeracy skills and responsible citizenship and employability.

Assessment for Learning
* Assess and mark students' work to a high standard: regularly, analysing their strengths and weaknesses in relation to learning objectives. Give students constructive feedback which helps them to improve.
* Monitor and record student progress in accordance with School procedures, including the writing of reports and assessments, identifying underachievement at an early stage.

Parent and Guardians
* Work with parents and guardians to support students' learning, providing advice and support to parents about their child's development.
* Ensure every effort is made to develop and maintain good relationships with parents and the local community.

Continued Professional Development
* Use assessment information, lesson observation and student voice to regularly evaluate teaching and improve its effectiveness. Work with colleagues to develop and share good practice.
* Keep up to date with the philosophy, teaching methods and resources available by liaising with outside agencies, in-service courses, visits and personal study; reporting and discussing with other staff.

Other Duties
* To carry out a share of supervisory duties in accordance with published rosters
* To attend meetings and to contribute positively to discussions.
* To foster good relationships with all staff - both teaching and non-teaching - in the School.

Requirements

* Degree in teaching subject field
* 3 years teaching experience
* Teaching qualification
