Description

* Lead strategic security planning to achieve business goals through prioritising initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future security technologies.
* Establish and maintain the University's security and governance stance based on established best practice standards.
* Lead and manage the staff of the IT Security and governance area, spanning a range of technical services including risk assessment, policy administration, security protection and maintenance of security and governance architecture.
* Develop and communicate security and governance strategies and plans to senior management, staff, partners and stakeholders.
* Develop and maintain the University's security architecture including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, cryptography systems and anti-virus software.
* Assessing risks and threats and design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
* Prepare for and manage security audits and governance reporting.
* Develop, implement and maintain protocols, policies, procedures, and associated plans for system security and governance administration and user system access based on industry-standard best practices.
* Ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the data residing on or transmitted to/from/through workstations, servers and other systems and in databases and other data repositories.
* Ensure information authenticity, accountability, non-repudiation and reliability.
* Investigate incidents and breaches of security and taking corrective and preventative actions.
* Ensure appropriate training is provided to staff on security risks and processes.
* Manages staff and budgets.
* Develops and manages an Enterprise Architecture framework for the university.
* Manages the Security strategy of the university.
* Provide a governance framework and supports the IT Governance committee.

Requirements

* Demonstrated expertise in the supervision, management and strategic planning of significant human, financial and material resources.
* Demonstrated ability to analyse and evaluate complex technological issues, resolve problems and produce effective outcomes in a high pressure environment.
* High-level knowledge and understanding of current IT security and governance issues.
* Demonstrated familiarity with a range of IT areas, with knowledge and understanding of the inter-connectedness between areas and the capacity to deliver solutions that incorporate a range of IT functions.
* Demonstrated significant experience in undertaking major projects to their successful completion with an emphasis on change implementation.
* Demonstrated experience in the development of policy and procedural documentation.
