Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

A Fashion client, is looking for a Strong Female "Fashion Designer" from a reputable University (list below).

Some of the Skills Required are:
• Tasteful, Artistic, will create an internationally contemporary appealing concept, which is aesthetically strong
• Creative, innovative, and flair.
• An eye for color and a feel for fabrics, materials and pattern.
• Understanding design from a technical perspective, i.e. producing patterns, toiles and technical specifications for designs;
• Know how to draw patterns for articles designed; then cut patterns, and cut material according to patterns, using measuring instruments and scissors if needed.
• Supervise the making up of sample garments.
• Basic sew together sections of material to form mockups or samples of garments or articles, using sewing equipment if needed.
• The ability to meet deadlines and work within a budget
• Good communication skills to explain their ideas clearly.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Negotiation skills used with suppliers.

Researching fashion
• Researching fashion trends and staying current on contemporary styles. Attend fashion shows and review garment magazines and manuals in order to gather information about fashion trends and consumer preferences. May attend fashion and fabric shows to observe new fashions and materials. Staying up to date with emerging fashion trends as well as general trends relating to fabrics, colors and shapes.
• Visit textile showrooms to keep up-to-date on the latest fabrics. May require traveling.

Planning and developing ranges:
• Creating / visualizing an idea and producing sketch of the design by hand or using computer-aided design (CAD); Creating samples and detailed drawings of apparel or accessories, and write specifications such as color schemes, construction, material types, and accessory requirements.
• Choosing materials for the designs. Sourcing, selecting and buying fabrics, trims, fastenings and embellishments.
• Confer with management executives in order to discuss design ideas.

Overseeing Production:
• Overseeing production, direct, coordinate workers involved in drawing, cutting patterns and constructing samples or finished garments. Developing a pattern that is cut and sewn into sample garments and supervising the making up of these, including fitting, detailing and adaptations. Supervising or working with design team members. May construct sample, using sewing equipment.
• Select materials and production techniques to be used for products.
• Sourcing Supplier’s nationally or internationally.
• Help in Determine prices for styles.
• Examine sample garments on and off models; then modify designs to achieve desired effects.
• May collaborate with other designers to coordinate special products and designs.
• Quality Control.

Marketing
• Help with photo-shoots and editorials.

• London College of Fashion
