Job description / Role
The Field Engineer is the person in charge of the Foundation Testing Field work on a particular project. He is expected to independently perform all necessary work with little or no assistance from senior employees. He is the leader of the field crew and the immediate authority on site where testing is being performed. He reports to the Project Manager and to the Division Manager and is accountable for the technical success and efficient execution of the field work.
Primary duties:
• Ensure completion of all aspects of the assembly or instrumentation process in accordance with the specifications and method statement prior to installation of instrumented foundation element
• Supervise the set-up of and perform testing of deep foundations including traditional axial and lateral static load tests, Osterberg Cell tests, dynamic load tests and pile integrity tests (PIT and CHSL)
• Perform analyses and prepare reports on the results of foundation testing
• Prepare method statements for foundation testing projects
• Review project specifications and method statement to determine necessary course of action on site.
• Prepare material requisitions for instrumentation or equipment needed on site.
• Coordinate field work with the contractor’s representative on site
• Review the contractor’s execution plan and suggest modifications if necessary
• Observe and document contractor activities surrounding preparation and execution of load testing
• Fully document all activities performed by Fugro personnel on site
• Act as a role model for excellence, quality, professionalism and teamwork
Additional Duties:
• Perform Job Hazard Assessments for field work activities
• Liaise all site HSE needs with HSE officer and keep all involved informed
• Actively participate in adherence to and improvement of the company Management system on Quality and HSE related issues.
Requirements
• Bachelor of Engineering degree from accredited four-year university.
Skills/ experience required :
• Minimum 3 year experience in Foundation Testing.
• High proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English. The candidate must be able to demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills and provide samples of his own writing.
• High proficiency with MS Excel, including building and tracing complex formulae.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD drafting software.
• Valid passport, willingness and ability to travel without restriction to sites within the Middle East and Asia, or wherever else services may be required.
• UAE driving license, preferably with endorsement for manual transmission.
