Charterhouse are engaged, on an exclusive basis, with a Sharjah-based government entity, to identity and source a Finance Director whom will take overall responsibility for the financial accountancy, controllership and management reporting functions across the group business. With a reporting line to the Executive Director, this role shall also oversee all the planning, forecasting and internal control operations; to develop strong governance and financial management tools.

This will be coupled with the inception of treasury management, financial strategy and investment-related capabilities and mechanisms; to drive forward any organisational change and commercial growth objectives. In conjunction with these operational aspects, the Finance Director shall also take the project management lead, on a finance transformation initiative, to cater for diversification and strategic alignment of organisation; this will span change management, ERP implementation and the overall assessment of cost efficiencies and operational streamlining.

This Director role shall inherit a team of accountants and finance professional, whom have an oversight of transactional and financial accounting undertakings, with a mandate to develop strong governance and IFRS-based policies whilst also developing strong analytical and ‘value-add’ reporting capabilities across these business entities. In conjunction, the Finance Director shall also be required to develop performance-based matrices; to allow for strong strategic partnership and support to the Executive Management team. Critically too, will be the need for the development and roll-out of corporate finance & investment related tools. This will facilitate new initiatives and the assessment of investment strategies, through strong and detailed due diligence and feasibility analysis, which ultimately link to cash/fund management, financing cost and shareholder value and/or return on investment.

Requirements

Our client is looking to hire a professionally qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA) whom can demonstrate up to 15 years of post-qualified experience within a financial management, controllership and/or stewardship role. Our client will look to recruit an individual whom can demonstrate a combined background within both multinational ‘blue chip’ businesses combined with exposure to either local groups and/or government-related entities. This is deemed to be a strong mix of background to achieve both the technical and cultural fit to the role and organisation.

The Director shall also be required to present an excellent track within stakeholder management, combined with an in depth understanding, of the technicalities of IFRS-based accounting principles coupled with an industry appreciation of their application. At this important stage within the group’s development, the client shall look towards a candidate with a proactive track record to finance transformations and the implementation of change management, through project advisory, to multi-vertical finance streams. Due to the link to federal and government structures and/or ownership, our client has a preference towards the hiring of a native Arabic speaker.
