Job description / Role
Finance Manager - Abu Dhabi
Must be based in Abu Dhabi, you will not be able to commute from Dubai for this role.
* Assist Senior Manager in developing, performing and monitoring the accounting functions
* Ensure application of international principles of accounting and best practices
* Ensuring a high quality month- quarter and year-end closing for the company
* Ensure efficiency and timeliness of the day to day financial accounting operations
* Monitor control effectiveness
* Work with Commercial team on new tenders
* Take on special projects and assignments to enhance shareholder value
* Maintain financial and cost accounting records of and ensure that the accounting transactions are processed properly in the system
* Exercise control and diligence with regard to all the payments, receipts, purchases, fixed assets, depreciation and payroll and related accounting documents like vouchers, cheques and invoices, etc. and act as the checking authority before forwarding for approvals thereof
* Execute usual accounting functions, which include operating the general ledger system
* Analyse and interpret existing accounting policies & procedures, and propose and manage improvements
* Supervise the maintenance of the general ledger and chart of accounts
* Ensuring good quality for IFRS reporting packages and top quality for statutory statements within year end closing
* Ensure timely and accurately closure of monthly, quarterly and year end books
* Manage all period-end closing including adjusting entries, on a timely and accurate basis
* Responsible for asset accounting, material accounting and cash desk
* Maintain the chart of accounts
* Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
* Provide necessary clarifications to the external and internal auditors; Liaise and ensure that auditors are provided with relevant financial information
* Proactive follow up of receivables, WIP, deferred revenue, inventory provisions, asset review
* Evaluate data collected from performance reviews and make recommendations
* Produce financial statements and reports in line with Accounting policy and IFRS requirements
* Responsible for correctness of special bookings and transactions (e.g. mergers), and for declarations of VAT, withholding tax etc.
* Responsible for coordination with internal stakeholder on commercial proposal/ bids
* Treasury management including performance bonds, LC/ LGs etc.
Requirements
- Chartered Accountant
- Experience of working in service/industry/engineering operations
- Team management experience
- Big 4 background or similiar
