UAE Financial Controller

This is a highly integral role, working in the MENA finance controllership team. It focuses on core financial operations across two different businesses based in the UAE, KSA, Kuwait and Turkey. Additionally, the role will be exposed to further business unit operations across the MENA region in a more generalist way.

There will be key reporting responsibilities, consisting of US GAAP internal reporting of financial results across operating companies on various timescales, accurate submissions of all local and statutory/ regulatory reporting of financial results across legal entities, submissions of local tax filings and preparation and presentation of interim financial statements at board meetings. Additionally, there will be responsibility for the control environment for all finance related processes. This includes; management of external audits, management of SOX and other internal audit or controls testing, maintenance of internal controls processes and providing input into regional risk committees.

As a key, senior management figure, you will be a mentor and coach, providing training for direct reports and the wider MENA finance controllership team. Proactive support for teams in the internal accounting service centres is required and you will provide guidance, feedback and advise consistently on process improvements. Emphasis on service excellence and overall management and direction of the controllership function across the whole region is the core competency of this position. An important part of the position focuses on business partnering, through membership of local and regional management committees, ensuing independent technical expertise to all stakeholders is shared.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must be ACA (or equivalent) qualified with a strong background in financial / insurance services. Additionally, we are especially looking at candidates who are ex-audit technically strong and who have had DFSA (or similar) regulatory experience. Candidates will be culturally aware and very stakeholder focused; high achievers, who are vested in the region and wish to drive their career forward.

Only those candidates with a proven consistent career history of five years plus in a similar role will be considered for this role and no overseas applicants will be considered. Regional understanding of different financial jurisdictions will be vital in this position.
