Job description

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai within the Fitness & Wellness Department, the fitness receptionist is responsible for, but not limited to, booking all classes and personal training sessions, explaining our services to guests, performing point of sales activities including membership sales, personal training sales, entrance fees and checking in, touring where necessary, and checking out all guests from the fitness centre in a professional manner.

Key responsibilities

• Understand and comply with all corporate and hotel policies and standard operating procedures.
• Ensure all business activities and decisions comply with the general law, rules, regulations, and other requirements in accordance with the MOHG Code of Conduct.
• Fully support all learning and development activities.
• Ensure that all standards of LQE, MOQA, and Forbes are followed consistently.
• Take all reasonable steps to safeguard stored information and not divulge or transfer any personal data concerning guests, customers, or colleagues, or any confidential information concerning the hotel unless with appropriate authority.
• Use hotel network, computers, or internet access responsibly; inappropriate use such as gambling, chat rooms, or pornographic material is a serious breach of hotel policy and grounds for summary dismissal.
• Support and adhere to all policies and procedures relating to Safe, Sound and Sustainable at Mandarin Oriental.
• Ensure compliance with the MOHG Social Media Policy and be fully responsible for content published on any social media platform, including personal sites.
• Uphold Mandarin Oriental Jumeirau2019s zero tolerance on all forms of harassment or discrimination. It is strictly forbidden to discriminate on the basis of gender, disability, including physical or medical condition, race, colour, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, age, sexual orientation, marital status, or for any other reason.
• Act as a hotel ambassador at all times.
• Carry out any additional duties requested by management related to hotel operational activities.
• Assist in the operations of all fitness centre areas as required, including fitness reception, main gym, movement studio, fitness pantry, and spa reception support when necessary.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the fitness centre, particularly the reception, reception back storeroom, and main entrance areas. These should be kept neat, tidy, and sanitary in accordance with Safe, Sound and Sustainability standards.
• Aid fitness instructors and personal trainers with set-up and clearing away after sessions.
• Perform safety and cleaning checklists daily to a professional standard and with integrity.
• Support the cleaning and set-up of fitness equipment, fitness counter, changing rooms, and studio when required.
• Organize appointment scheduling to maximize use of time and profitability whilst ensuring guestsu2019 needs are of first importance.
• Be a team player and assist all spa, wellness, and hotel colleagues where necessary.
• Perform opening and closing duties as required.
• Have a thorough understanding of SpaSoft, all fitness and membership services. Further training to expand on treatments offered in the spa and all retail products may be provided.
• Exhibit good telephone skills and follow required telephone etiquette.
• Maintain a professional attitude at all times, particularly with regard to punctuality, appearance, and general manner.
• Perform duties with a friendly, professional business attitude and conduct all responsibilities as required by the position or assigned by the Fitness & Wellness Manager, Fitness & Wellness Supervisor, or Senior Director of Spa & Wellness.
• Ensure a warm, friendly welcome to all guests at all times. Greet guests upon arrival, give new guests tours of the fitness centre, and offer return guests u201cre-orientations.u201d Courtesy to guests and colleagues is expected at all times.
• Courteously interact with and answer all spa & wellness and hotel-related questions from guests.
• Communicate all messages promptly, including keeping direct line management and Duty Manager informed of any guest incidents.
