Job description / Role
Objective:
To ensure the optimal performance, safety, and operational readiness of the company's vehicle fleet by overseeing inspections, coordinating repairs, managing maintenance records, and ensuring compliance with scheduled service. The role is responsible for identifying mechanical or electrical issues, verifying the quality of completed repairs, and maintaining accurate records, while also supporting driver training and on-road breakdown management.
Key responsibility:
- Conduct routine inspections of vehicle engines, mechanical, and electrical components to diagnose faults and initiate necessary repairs.
- Verify and confirm repair quality for petrol and diesel vehicles post-servicing.
- Maintain detailed records of all repaired vehicles, including dates, faults, and actions taken.
- Coordinate and schedule vehicle repairs in line with operational routing and availability requirements.
- Train new drivers in vehicle handling, maintenance protocols, and safety procedures.
- Perform regular inspections of both drivers and vehicles to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Visit garages daily to monitor repair progress and ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns at site locations, coordinating immediate action and recovery.
- Conduct on-road testing of vehicles post-repair to confirm reliability and safety.
- Monitor tire conditions, schedule replacements, and manage tire rotation every 20,000 kilometers.
- Maintain and update tire replacement and rotation logs for the entire fleet.
- Prepare and submit regular vehicle condition reports to the line manager for review and action.
Desired experience:
The ideal fleet technical coordinator should have 2-3 years of experience in fleet maintenance, vehicle diagnostics, and transport operations, preferably within a logistics, facility management, or transport-intensive industry.
