The opportunity:

As part of our regional team you will work with a wide range of small, medium and large Financial Institutions across the MENA region on regulatory/operational tax matters. You will work closely with regulators and governmental authorities. Operational and regulatory tax matters involve a key focus on the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (“FATCA”) and the Common Reporting Standard (“CRS”) regulations.

As a FATCA/CRS Senior, you will demonstrate the right mix of industry, commercial and tax technical knowledge to be able to understand how Financial Institutions operate across the Middle East and support them in achieving their objectives with respect to regulatory and operational tax matters. You will build trusted relationships with them and your internal peers.

Your key responsibilities:

• You will effectively apply your knowledge to client situations, developing and delivering innovative solution-oriented ideas with timely, responsive services and work products that meet and/or exceed client expectations. You will contribute to creating high-performing teams and helping staff members build their skills.
• You will work with the wider team to serve as a trusted business advisor to a wide range of Financial Institutions across the MENA region, including banks, wealth and asset managers and insurers in providing a wide range of consulting services including a focus on regulatory/operational tax matters.
• You will serve to provide operational and regulatory tax advice with a key focus on advising businesses on FATCA and CRS and also Qualified Intermediary (“QI”) regime and other operational and regulatory tax matters (e.g. 871m).
• You will work as part of a multi-jurisdictional/disciplinary team in terms of delivering engagements. And manage the preparation of reports and schedules that will be delivered to clients and other parties.
• You will participate and assist in preparing for meetings with existing and prospective clients, and support business development initiatives.
• You will ensure engagements comply with all aspects of internal risk management as well as managing the economics of all jobs.

Requirements

Skills and attributes for success:

If you are an energetic and motivated professional with strong analytical and problem- solving skills, you will get the experience to develop within the Tax practice and be exposed to major clients and projects throughout the Middle East.

To qualify for the role you must have:

• A bachelor's degree with strong academic credentials – taxation, accounting, business, finance or a related field essential.
• A minimum of three to five years of relevant experience working with operational and regulatory tax matters in a role which involves oversight on regulatory/operational tax matters.
• Consultancy (i.e. Big 4, major law firm) and in-house Financial Institution experience desirable.
• Strong organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication skills.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

• MBA, Master’s degree or LLM/professional certification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, ICAEW, etc.)
• Fluent in Arabic
• Relevant consulting experience within a mature market
