Forklift Operator

Job description / Role

Purpose: To carry out all forklift tasks in the Cargo Terminal assigned either manually or by automated system at DXB or DWC airport. This includes the safe movement of cargo to / from customer vehicles, racking, (buildup / breakdown (inclusive)) workstations, acceptance and delivery areas of the Cargo Terminal. The operator will use a Hand Held terminal (HHT) where applicable and handle documentation as required.

Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
• Retrieve, store, deliver and accept freight from Customer Vehicles, Material Handling System (ASRS / ETV), Static Racks, floor locations within the Cargo Terminal/ramp area. Updates information of retrieval and storage on Hand held terminals where necessary.
• Carry Hand Held Terminal (HHT)/ PDA at all times as part of undertaking activity.
• Adhere to safety practice by wearing PPE, following safety rules, and reporting safety concerns at all times.
• Ensure assigned tasks are completed on time and in an appropriate manner with all safety procedures followed.
• Inspects all assigned Forklifts to ensure serviceability and safe for driving before and after use. Ensure all defects are reported to the supervisor.
• Ensure safe driving within designated area with load being stabilized while racking and retrieval or transporting of warehouse pallets/units.
• Operates Forklift in accordance with relevant operating manuals and ensure all safety procedures are followed.
• Notify Cargo Assistants of any storage units that are damaged or that have obscured identification marks to enable remedial action.
• Directs Loaders to achieve nominated task while ensuring their safety.
• Ensure all changes in Operating Procedures are duly adhered to at all times.

Requirements

• 10 years schooling or equivalent
• English language skills
• Hand held terminal operation
• Valid license for operating the equipment.
• Airport Driving License/Warehouse Driving Permit.
• Warehouse Safety Awareness
• Valid UAE Driving License # 7 (Tractor or Light Mechanical Equipment)
