Job description / Role
ROLE PURPOSE
- To provide initial set-up and on-going user support for all Front End Services (FES), such as desktops, laptops, printers, fax, phones, scanners, etc including both hardware, and related software and services.
- To provide first level support for all FES Services
- To ensure network connectivity for all users
- To ensure that all policy Security requirements and legal obligations regarding software licensing are met.
KEY ACTIVITIES
- To deliver the configured machine to the user, connect to the network and ensure that the user is satisfied with the service provided.
- To provide the user with basic training to utilize the PC or operations equipment and avoid future problems.
- To respond with the appropriate degree of urgency to problems and requests from the Help Desk for user support.
- To respond to requests for equipment set up for meetings and presentations.
- To provide PC and peripheral set up support to country projects with an IS element.
- To support all Field deployed IT equipment, such as RF Scanners, Courier Scanners and their peripheral equipment including printers, etc.
- To maintain all FES Services and hardware at agreed operational performance levels.
- To resolve problems either through personal action or by organizing resolution through the ME ITSS Help desk or a third party vendor.
- To set up personal computer for both hardware and authorized software.
- To ensure the functionality and accessibility of all shared peripherals such as printers, plotters, scanners, etc
- To ensure that all personal computers have installed the latest anti virus software and that all automatic updates are being installed in a timely manor.
Requirements
Skills
- Communication skills (English), spoken and written
Technical expertise in:
- Personal computer set up and preparation for use both hardware and software
- 1st Level hardware and software troubleshooting
- IBM / Intel compatible PC hardware configurations
- Windows 2000/XP operating systems
- Support of standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Visio, etc.
- TCP/IP, SMTP, DNS, DHCP, AD
- Internet technologies
- RF Scanners
- Network Printers
