Employment: Full Time

Charterhouse is working with a Middle Eastern company that is looking to hire a General Counsel with 10+ years post qualification experience to join its Legal team based in Sharjah. The business is looking for an individual with strong experience in a corporate setting developing and implementing corporate legal affairs policies.

You will be responsible for advising senior management with respect to the legal implications of all major decisions, strategies and transactions of the company. The individual will be coordinating and overseeing the activities of inside legal function representing the company with respect to potential risks or claims (e.g., employment law compliance, employee benefits, intellectual property rights and obligations, and insurance coverage issues) and outside counsel representing the company with respect to asserted claims or legal proceedings.

You will be responsible in communicating and building working relationships with the Group CEO, Heads of Functions, Managers, Legal firms as appropriate and Legislative and Legal institutions in the United Arab Emirates.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should demonstrate strong general commercial or functional knowledge across a broad range of sub disciplines within the individual's specialty area(s), (e.g., Federal law, general corporate law, banking regulations, Islamic financing, employment law, data privacy, asset-backed financing, contract management, intellectual property, REIT, trade secrets, advertising law, registration and other resolutions specific to the service, real estate and technology industry).

Our client is looking for a native Arabic Speaker, with a bachelor’s in law (specialization in Corporate / Commercial Law preferred). The ideal candidate must have at least 10 years post qualification experience in a corporate setting developing and implementing corporate legal affairs policies. Knowledge in the Law of the Emirate of Sharjah and United Arab Emirate. Excellent communication skills and previous experience in policy writing and reviewing. Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
