Our client, one of the country's leading developers of residential and commercial properties headquartered in Abu Dhabi.

The General Manager (“GM”) is responsible for leading the development and execution of the Organization’s long term strategy with a view to creating shareholder value. The GM’s leadership role also entails being ultimately responsible for all day-to-day management decisions and for implementing the Organization’s long and short term plans. The GM acts as a direct liaison between the Board and management of the Organization and communicates to the Board on behalf of management. The GM may also communicate on behalf of the Organization to shareholders, employees, possibly Government authorities, other stakeholders and the public.

The Director and GM will provide the leadership and assume responsibility and accountability for the overall strategic and operational planning of the hospital. This will be carried out in concert with the overall strategic direction of the health system and in partnership with members of the Health System Executive Group.

Essential Job Functions:
- To lead, in conjunction with the Board, the development of the Organization’s strategy;
- To lead and oversee the implementation of the Organization’s long and short term plans in accordance with its strategy;
- To ensure the Organization is appropriately organized and staffed and to have the authority to hire and terminate staff as necessary to enable it to achieve the approved strategy;
- To ensure that expenditures of the Organization are within the authorized annual budget of the Organization;
- To assess the principal risks of the Organization and to ensure that these risks are being monitored and managed;
- To ensure effective internal controls and management information systems are in place;
- To ensure that the Organization has appropriate systems to enable it to conduct its activities both lawfully and ethically;
- To ensure that the Organization maintains high standards of corporate citizenship and social responsibility wherever it does business;
- To act as a liaison between executive leadership team and the Board;
- To communicate effectively with shareholders, employees, Government authorities, other stakeholders and the public;
- To keep abreast of all material undertakings and activities of the Organization and all material external factors affecting the Organization and to ensure that processes and systems are in place to ensure that the GM and management of the Organization are adequately informed;
- To ensure that the Directors (executive leadership team) are properly informed and that sufficient information is provided to the Board to enable the Directors to form appropriate judgments;
- To ensure the integrity of all public disclosure by the Organization;
- In concert with the CEO/Chairman, to develop Board agendas;
- To request that special meetings of the Board be called when appropriate;
- In concert with the CEO/Chairman, to determine the date, time and location of the annual meeting of shareholders and to develop the agenda for the meeting;
- To sit on committees of the Board where appropriate as determined by the Board; and
- To abide by specific internally established control systems and authorities, to lead by personal example and encourage all employees to conduct their activities in accordance with all applicable laws and the Organization’s standards and policies, including its environmental, safety and health policies.

In addition to the duties:
- Commitment to the Strategic Principles;

- Overseeing strong workforce development through recruitment and retention, employee satisfaction and engagement, maximizing growth potential of employees and strong succession planning, embracing diversity as a strategic advantage;
- Maximizing operational efficiencies to provide the highest quality of safe and appropriate patient care;
- Ensuring regulatory and other relevant compliance;
- Achieving and maintaining strong financial health, working with the Chief Financial Officer;
- Establishing an effective means to communicate throughout the organization;
- Participate as needed in physician recruitment efforts; and
- Continuing leadership in environmental and community stewardship.

Requirements

- An advanced degree in a relevant field is required, appropriate management and leadership experience is essential, and advanced training in business or healthcare management is desirable.
- Broad understanding of health care issues, including the role of academic medicine with researchers, practitioners and educators is desired.
- Thorough knowledge of modern management principles, practices, and methods is required.
- Considerable knowledge of hospitals and health centers.
- Required Experience
- Seasoned and successful leader, ideally with experience in a major academic medical center or other complex health-related industry or organization in a competitive market.
- Experience operating effectively in a complex decision-making setting.
- Working experience with diverse groups and commitment to advancing workplace diversity.
- Specialization in Cancer and/or Pediatrics
