Geotechnical/Geological Specialist

JOB OVERVIEW:

- Study site terrain (geological, hydrogeological and geotechnical) conditions.
- Perform rock mass classification and characterization analysis from geotechnical collected data / field data.
- Inspect cut slopes walls to check for signs of geotechnical stress, instability, rock fall or other hazardous conditions and make site specific rock mass joints measurements.
- Perform slope stability analysis both globally and locally. Perform slope stability analysis with software like Slope/W, Talren, Unwedge, Swedge, Rockfall etc. or other geotechnical programs for analyzing instability mechanisms.
- Collect, understand, install, analyze and interpret slope monitoring data from prisms, extensometers and inclinometers, and ground water data from piezometers.
- Write weekly geotechnical summaries for presenting the slope stability issues due to blasting, cutting etc. Provide favorable recommendations for slope protection measures.
- Write clear and concise technical reports based on findings on studies made. Communicate findings, issues, recommendations and solutions to excavators, Construction Manager and/or Resident Engineer.
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements

- Degree in Geotechnical, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- At least 20 years of related experience in geotechnical construction supervision of roads, highway, bridges and associated infrastructure works.
- Must have experience in rock cutting, slope stability and protection.
- Preferably with related experience in Ras Al-Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, Oman or on constructions sites with rocky and hilly terrains.
- Proficient with Slope/W, Talren, Unwedge, Swedge, Rockfall or other geotechnical programs for analyzing instability mechanisms.
- Preferably fluent in English and Arabic.
- Excellent technical report writing skills, and construction inspection skills.
