GM / Managing Director

Job description / Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced GM or MD to join a well-funded start-up in the building materials industry. The Chairman has ambitious growth plans to expand across the region and into Africa. Successful candidates should be financially savvy, with a strong personal presence & gravitas, able to open doors and build relationships quickly.

• Reporting directly to the Chairman, acting as right-hand person to him – keeping him abreast of all changes in the business
• Develop business plan
• Formulate strategy for growth into new overseas territories
• Scope out new factory sites and ensure they become operational
• Prepare a strategy for the ecommerce business
• Be present at all international sales conferences & exhibitions
• Develop and maintain relationships and access at key decision maker level for assigned target clients
• Create and lead a professional, proactive, and performance-driven culture
• Hire a brand-new, top calibre team, and create KPIs for business managers in all areas such as IT, HR, Sales
• Personally contribute to growth of coverage across Africa, Middle East and Far East
• Ownership of P&L
• Work with team to establish effective pricing and staffing levels for each country and line of business
• Work alongside CFO to ensure budgets are being met
• Develop financial strategies for growth
• Manage global supply chain for the distribution business
• Works with the Directors of Production and Operations monitoring all production is in line with demand
• Acts as primary liaison to the board, finance committee and other appropriate committees

Salary:
AED 80,000 to 110,000 per month inclusive of fixed allowances.

Requirements

• MBA
• Proven track record of developing relationships at the key decision-maker level in new overseas territories
• Minimum 3 years experience as a MD/COO/GM in a distribution and/or manufacturing business, ideally in Building Materials
• Past experience of opening offices in new markets
• Proven record of leading and motivating teams
• Demonstrate sound commercial awareness
• Past experience as P&L owner
