Governance Officer – Commodities
Location: Dubai
A leading oil trading firm is seeking an experienced governance officer to join the team, you will support on implementing and managing the businesses governance framework.
This role reports into the Compliance Manager and is a fantastic opportunity for someone to join a growing business, we are looking for someone who has experience within the commodities space or within banking – this is essential.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Support with the maintenance, implementation and review of frameworks.
• Keep up to date with changing regulations.
• Assist the risk team with monitoring and oversight of compliance.
• First point of contact for all questions regarding frameworks.
• Support with the review and development of training material.
• Review governance processes and frameworks to ensure their suitability and effectiveness.
• Monitor industry trends and legislative developments related to governance.
• Support the board and relevant committees within the business.
• Assist with the preparations of agendas and meeting materials.
• Support with the implementation of company policies and procedures.
• Provide advise and support to management.
Requirements:
Experience Required
• 4+ years’ experience in governance, compliance or risk management roles within commodities or banking.
• Ability to work within a fast-paced and demanding environment.
• Strong understanding of corporate governance frameworks, internal controls, and regulatory expectations.
• Excellent organization and project management skills.
• Strong communication skills – ability to interact confidently with senior managers and governing bodies.
• Proficiency in governance tools, systems and document management software.
• Fluency in English is required – Arabic is advantageous.
