Job description / Role

Synopsis

The GSE technician is responsible for the maintenance, serviceability and positioning of the GSE equipment and vehicles in the technical operations environment.

Accountabilities

• Ensure safe and smooth functioning of the GSE organization.
• Ensure all preventive maintenance of the GSE equipment and vehicles is performed as required by the operation and as defined by the equipment manufacturer.
• Be available and assist with any audit requirements as defined by the national airworthiness authority, EY quality assurance or the customer.
• Strive to perform functions and responsibilities in order to achieve "zero" repeat audit findings and minimize any other audit findings.
• Control all GSE and vehicles and make sure all are in serviceable condition.
• Ensure the daily and weekly checks of cars and GSE are correctly done by the shifts using approved authority and company procedures, documentation and processes.
• Ensure all GSE is maintained according to the maintenance schedule using approved authority and company procedures, documentation and processes.
• Maintain an up-to-date inventory list of all GSE.
• Carry out work in compliance with company, health, safety and airport procedures and regulations.
• Use and maintain approved company-provided PPE at all times during daily GSE activities.
• Obtain and maintain the validity of all necessary safety and operation training provided by the company (e.g. first aid, fire warden, IPAF, HF, documentation).
• Report all accidents and incidents as per the approved emergency response procedures.
• Keep control of airport passes and permits of vehicles.
• Perform all duties allocated by the GSE supervisor.
• Create service orders for work required (vehicles and equipment).
• Conduct post maintenance and repair inspection of vehicles and GSE.
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly inventory checks in accordance with company policy and procedures.
• Behave in a manner which reflects a professional approach when dealing with customers.
• Ensure staff competency is performed through approved Etihad competency department for GSE staff to assess knowledge, awareness, experience, capability, development and training.
• Establish and maintain effective and timely use of i-Achieve, CPM, i-Learn, Etihad policies and procedures and other tools as appropriate.
• Encourage colleagues and be actively involved in the promotion of safety awareness and a positive reporting culture by reporting any unsafe acts, unsafe conditions or safety risks.

Education & Experience

• Strong AMOS background with strong English communication skills.
• Trained or with strong awareness of safety procedures and precautions when handling GSE (e.g. safety precautions when dealing with fuel, oil, oxygen or nitrogen).
• Trained or with strong awareness of personal protective equipment (PPE) and their crucial part in daily GSE activities.
• Trained or with strong awareness of emergency response, first aid and fire warden requirements and procedures.
• Holding valid UAE driving license for at least 2 years (light or heavy vehicles).
• Trained or with strong awareness of safety and operating procedures and precautions when operating GSE (e.g. IPAF training to operate Genies).
• Minimum of 5 years' aviation experience including at least 2 years in a related position (GSE - aircraft maintenance).
• Must be able to work nights and weekends, work under stress and be able to communicate perfectly in English.
• Has attended the mandatory training within 6 months of joining the company as per TPM 3.92 requirements.
• High school leaving certificate or diploma is preferred with background in aircraft engineering studies.
