HAAD/DHA Licenced Dietitian - Abu Dhabi

Our client is looking for two enthusiastic Medical Dietitians for their upcoming branch in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

General

Within our clients’ facility, treatment of patients with morbid obesity is provided by a multidisciplinary team using a fully protocolled method. The goal is to improve the physical and mental health of patients, as well as their quality-of-life through bariatric surgery and lifestyle change.

One multidisciplinary team consists of a GP or Nurse Practitioner, Dietitian, Physiotherapist or Sports Therapist, and a Psychologist. Each clinic has several teams working according to this set-up. Every clinic is lead by a branch manager.

Treatment of morbidly obese patients is sometimes individually but mostly in groups using group sessions. In every phase, there is a fixed session at which the dietician provides their input, determines what purpose of the session is, and what theme is discussed. In addition, the dietitian contacts individual patients upon request.

Organization

Our Client has a clinic structure with a high degree of autonomy, which is lead by the branch manager. From the headquarters in the Netherlands, the international strategy of the organization is developed and translated into regional activities in the clinics. The operational activities are facilitated by headquarter management and their various departments (IT, Finance, HR, Marketing and communications).

The function objective

As a dietitian, you are responsible for the dietary interventions in the treatment programs of our clients. You provide supervision, education, and guidelines in both individual, but above all, group sessions and you guide patients to adopt a new lifestyle. You provide patients insight into which lifestyle changes are necessary for them, in order to stabilize their weight and you support them with the restructuring of their dietary patterns. The majority of the patients that you supervise will have undergone bariatric surgery.

Main tasks and responsibilities
- The dietitian is authorized to make appropriate decisions independently and, where necessary, after consulting with the other professionals.
- Collaborates with the physician during the intake procedure.
- Examines patients and determines whether, from a dietary perspective, patients are eligible for treatment on the basis of established in- and exclusion criteria.
- Refers patients, possibly through to dietician or nutritional specialized practitioners.
- Prepares patients for surgery and the next stage.
- Provides information and insight into the process surrounding the operation.
- Provides insight into which lifestyle change is necessary to be able to stabilize in weight.
- Supports for bringing about changes in lifestyle by patients, this follows and reinforces the commitment of patients.
- Contributes to relapse prevention.
- Assists patients in perpetuating the new behavior.
- Accompanies any relapse.
- Supports patients in difficult situations.
- Is the first point of contact for nutritional issues regarding the first contact with fellow practitioners.

Requirements

- Have, as a minimum, a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at Bachelors level and are preferably listed in a quality register of allied health professionals.
- Have at least 2 to 5 years of similar work experience, knowledge of and experience with morbid obesity, diabetes Mellitus, and bariatrics.
- Are familiar with providing group treatment and supervision and you are skilled in motivational interviewing.
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Have a valid DHA or HAAD License or Eligibility Letter as a Dietitian
- Arabic Speaking is a PLUS
