Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Strategic Planning
• Prepare and communicate sectional objectives and plan in line with division/department’s strategic objectives and operational plan and in line with company's strategic performance management framework and scorecard
• Manage the execution of sectional objectives and plan
• Propose KPI’s for the section and its employees and ensure they are in line with company strategic performance management framework and scorecard

Budget Management
• Develop sectional budget and monitor budget spend
• Provide guidance to direct line reports on budget optimization opportunities where applicable

Corporate Performance Management
• Oversee the performance of the section in line with the sectional plan defined
• Engage with the department head to identify opportunities to improve section’s performance

People Management
• Identify training and development needs of the section’s employees with a special focus on Emiratization
• Ensure availability of the required number of specialized staff to support the section by providing inputs to annual manpower plan in consultation with division/department head
• Provide constructive feedback to direct reports and provide inputs to the department head on performance of employees

Governance
• Ensure adherence and execution of the department’s policies and procedures as defined by the department head
• Ensure compliance of the section to the guidelines defined by division/department’s, such as, HR, legal, risk and quality assurance in addition to company's framework and DoA
• Participate and provide inputs in the periodic audit of the established policies and procedures to ensure compliance

Management Reporting
• Prepare periodic reports for the section and provide input into the division/department's periodic reports
• Propose and recommend remedial activities to manage any quality or non-compliance issues that arise during the review of periodic reports

Change Management
• Own/drive change management activities in the section and ensure all stakeholder communications are as per the approved communication plan

Technology Management
• Identify and define the technology-related needs of the section in order to drive automation and cost optimization

Professional Development
• Proactively identify and seek professional development opportunities to improve leadership and technical skills pertaining to the direct line of work and in line with company values
• Participate in performance appraisals and reflect on the feedback and recommendations provided by the line manager for development

DAILY FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide daily oversight and direction ensuring operational excellence, including scheduling, material availability and resolution of employee issues
• Responsible for smooth operation of baggage handling system across the airport
• Monitor projects to ensure procedures, materials and equipment installation comply with approved project plans and specifications
• Oversee all breakdown situation as per SLA and restore smooth operation
• Liaise with Facility Maintenance to understand the impact on operation of day to day facility management activities
• Anchor safety and security regulation in the section and oversee its execution across the function
• Examine, re-engineer operation and implement new strategies and procedures for operational efficiency
• Escalate and resolve any issues arising due to system unavailability and highlight the same to the department head for resolution
• Lead root cause analysis of technical issues to improve service activities and system availability
• Perform any other duties as requested by the reporting manager

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Mechanical, Management or a related field
• Minimum 8 years of experience in Baggage Handling System and Operations
• 03 year experience in management role
• GCAA regulations and IATA procedures related baggage operations
• Familiarity with aviation laws, Local & International Regularity requirements
• Professional Certifications Required
• UAE Driver’s License.
