Job description / Role
As part of an organisation involved in governmental projects within the infrastructure, agriculture and education sectors, our new client is seeking an experienced Head of Business Development. This position will report directly into both the CEO & Chairman and will be based in Dubai, with frequent travel to the African continent where the majority of the organisation’s projects are located.
Already with a significant presence in East and West Africa, the role of the Head of Business Development will further expand the number of projects across the African market. The ideal candidate will utilise their well establish African network and liaise directly with senior clients from the governmental sector to forge business relationships for the future across all sectors. Managing several stakeholders at one time, it is the responsibility of the Head of Business Development to ensure exceptional commercial awareness and make contact with those who can provide links and information of upcoming projects, which are often not easily accessible via the public domain. Therefore, the role will involve a large volume of networking with both established and new connections, cold calling and essentially starting the company’s presence from scratch in the designated African country. It requires an individual whom is exceptionally tenacious throughout the process, as projects can take up to 18 months to come to complete fruition. You will be fully responsible for the business and international marketing strategy and prepare detailed business plans, bids and tenders to take an aggressive approach to attaining the projects. The successful individual will also provide market research, competitive offerings and generate new ideas and innovations to leave no lead un-turned.
To apply for this vacancy you will be required to have extensive senior experience within African governmental projects. Those with an existing network of contacts and an established presence are highly advantageous for the role of Head of Business Development. You should be degree educated and there is a strong preference for those whom are based in Dubai, but are French speaking African nationals. However, other nationalities with the correct governmental exposure and network will also be considered.
