A not for profit, independent organisation with several diverse members is currently adding to its team with an Arabic Head of Communications & Spokesperson vacancy. Hosting a community of UN agencies and Intergovernmental Organisations our client aims to provide a wide range of services including: emergency preparedness; response and evacuation; licensing and government services; secure and cost efficient warehouses and facilities; access to partnerships and fundraising and the development of an innovation lab. It is an organisation that has become the largest in the world and leads by example with compassion and assistance in humanitarian aid.

As part of several new recruits over the last year, with an ever growing team across different departments, our client is now seeking a highly professional and experienced candidate with 10 years of exposure within a communications role and a minimum of 5 years within the humanitarian field.

Due to the nature of our NGO client it is essential that all information is handled with the upmost sensitivity and confidentiality at all times. Reporting to the Director of Operations this role will ensure you are wholly responsible for all internal and external consistent communications on a local, regional and global scale at a corporate level. In addition you will work closely with the CEO to assist in the overall analysis and understanding of the political and socio-economic developments in the region and all public image and media related issues. You will ensure you are able to identify current and social trends within the communications and media arena and ensure that our client is at the forefront of these trends.

The role of Head of Communications & Spokesperson will also provide media training for the CEO prior to interviews and advise the Senior Executive team of appropriate crisis management, activating the emergency task force, drafting of press release reports, and adhere to appropriate protocols in a crisis situation. Acting as a Spokesperson for the organisation will involve representation at seminars, conferences and training and workshops and full management of all written communications including press releases, speeches, editorials, graphic design and content development of communication templates and compilation of the overall annual report. Field visits alongside photographers and media teams will also be other responsibilities for this role.

Requirements

It is essential that you are a native Arabic speaker with exceptional standards of communication in English. You will be Masters educated within Communications or International Humanitarian Studies and possess a minimum of 10 years’ experience in Communications and 5 years within the humanitarian field. The successful applicant will also have an analytical mind set with high levels of written and presentation skills, whilst handling highly sensitive and confidential information. Strong inter-personal skills, with the ability to build relationships quickly with people in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment and a naturally motivated person is required for this role, alongside remaining calm in a crisis situation.
