Employment: Full Time

Cooper Fitch has been appointed by the UAE Federal Tax Authority as one of their recruitment and Human Capital partners for the VAT tax introduction in the United Arab Emirates and is recruiting for a Head of Compliance Affairs.

The role entails developing and supervising compliance activities, including strategies and policies aimed at reducing the “tax gap” and promoting tax compliance.

Key responsibilities include:
- Define, implement and manage the compliance operational plan.
- Oversee business performance of the compliance affairs section.
- Develop specific VAT and Excise Tax risk management.
- Coordinate with various internal stakeholders in order to develop compliance and risk management strategies.
- Monitor all compliance and inspection practices.
- Train relevant staff on appropriate VAT and audit techniques.
- Develop and identify risk criteria to be measured.
- Develop criteria for taxable persons for audit purposes.
- Keep up to date with the VAT and Excise Tax legislation changes and inform the team.
- Support the Tax Compliance and Enforcement Director on relevant issues.
- Oversee the development of training material for the taxable persons in order to develop and support overall awareness.
- Manage the section from the perspectives of effective staffing and training.

Requirements

- 8 years experience in a compliance function
- 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role
- Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant field
- Preferred Master’s Degree and relevant qualification such as CPA or CTA
- Experience in a government entity
