Job description / Role
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree (minimum) with coursework emphasis in teaching and educational/instructional technology
- Successful educational technology leadership, organization, and management skills
- Successful record of teaching with an emphasis in innovation and technology
- Proactive leader who can identify problems, plan initiatives, and provide comprehensive solutions
- Strong skills in writing, listening, communication, and collaboration
- Commitment to innovation and to the successful implementation of 21st century learning skills
- Strong work ethic with a willingness to contribute to the general welfare of the total school program and the ability to work independently
- Positive, professional, and collaborative disposition supportive of both the school and the organization
Reports to: Director of Teaching and Learning
Interfaces with: Head of School, Director of Teaching and Learning, ICT Head of Department, STEAM Coordinator, IT Manager, Divisional Principals and Assistant Principals, all faculty and staff, parents, and students
Job goal: To provide visionary and skilled leadership in 21st century learning innovation
Ongoing performance responsibilities:
- Model and encourage a culture of kindness
- Leadership, learning, and infrastructure
- Provide dynamic leadership to the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the school's innovation program for the express purpose of promoting student learning and enabling students to acquire the knowledge, skills, and understandings that ensure successful 21st century learning
- Collaborate with principals, team leaders, department heads, and individual teachers on strategies and planning designed to fulfill the school's improvement plan
- Collaborate with IT technical department and instructional technology teachers
- Lead and/or organize a range of professional learning opportunities with staff and the wider community
- Identify pedagogical frameworks for the discussion of learning innovation in context
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to teachers and division leaders in integrating innovation into learning
- Document innovative practices for both public and internal discussion; engage the wider community in learning initiatives
- Provide mechanisms to boost classroom transparency and de-privatize teaching practice
- Encourage changes to physical learning spaces that boost opportunities for innovation
- Evaluate emerging learning technologies for use within the school
- Collaborate with the IT department around technical initiatives such as device deployments and virtual learning environments
- Promote opportunities for students to engage in innovation through collaborations or participation in external opportunities
- Professional development
- Plan a dynamic, needs-based, and comprehensive professional learning program in collaboration with the Director of Curriculum
- Establish, publicize, and administer a school-wide, innovative professional learning program that will meet the needs of teachers and improve 21st century skills and strategies for effective classroom instruction
- Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum and administrators to ensure that staff are informed of professional conferences, workshops, and resources
- Management of instructional technology resources
- Assist and collaborate in preparation of the annual operating budget with specific reference to instructional technology, technology infrastructure, and innovation
- Coordinate requests for use of the MakerSpace and Robotics lab from each school division (teachers)
- Coordinate requests for improving learning spaces with innovation tools across the school
- Teaching
- Teach technology classes, such as Robotics, as needed
- Additional responsibilities
- Serve as the school's designate on initiatives involving innovation in the wider network
- Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Head of School
Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Engineering, Computer Science, STEM Education, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching in a similar role
