Job description / Role
Our Project Management & Engineering Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced Roads & Highways Design Engineer to join their team in Abu Dhabi to work on new projects in the Emirates. Successful candidates will have extensive experience as a Consultant Roads & Highways Design Engineer ideally with a recognised consultancy company background.
This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent opportunity employed directly by our client.
Key Responsibilities:
• Preparation of all design stages of road geometry, signing and marking, ancillary works of major urban and inter-urban road projects, incorporating tunnels, sophisticated grade separation interchanges, and service roads, investigation of alternatives, route selection, and preparation of the main items of bill quantities.
• Design of grade-separated interchanges and complex interchanges.
• Design of junctions of roundabouts and signalized junctions both horizontally and vertically, and the development of site grading.
• Design the Roads in a 3D environment.
• Design of road cross-sections and generating earthwork quantities from the 3D model.
• Pavement design and pavement design reports.
• Work coactively with the design team, and collaborate closely with other disciplines ensuring their requirements are fulfilled.
• Provide design support during the construction stage.
• Performs interdisciplinary reviews and provides coordinating data to ensure a compatible design.
• Understands and applies the company commonly used design standards and methods.
• Be able to prepare the required presentations to the client using PowerPoint or any other applicable software.
• Reviews supplier data as required.
• Reads supplier manufacturer drawings.
• Supervise, coordinate and assign the work to CAD Technicians
• Review and monitor the production of drawings to maintain quality and accuracy
• Support the development of the technical capabilities of the CAD team
• Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to the line manager
• Attend team and project meetings. Cascade information to the team as required
• Identify improvements (where possible) to enhance SIEC service to the clients
• Completes additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Roads & Highways Design Engineer Experience:
• BEng or MEng in Civil engineering
• Minimum of 10-12 years of experience, at least 3 working with a recognized Consultancy
• Experience in working with RTA, ADM, AAM, and DoT/ITC is preferred
• Knowledge of the local authority procedure, standards, and regulations in UAE / KSA is essential.
• Expertise in Civil 3D.
• Experience in Traffic Impact Study, Traffic modeling will be a benefit.
• Topographic survey and coordinates system is essential.
• Conversant with GCC’s authority approval procedure related to road design.
• Registration at MICE or IEng MICE level, or the equivalent thereof, is desirable.
• Full (Corporate) Membership of an Internationally recognized professional Institution, i.e., C. Eng. M.I.C.E. or P.E.)
• PMP Certification would be advantageous
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
