Housekeeping Manager

What you will be doing:

- Ensures that the administration of the Housekeeping team meets all labour standards, quality initiatives and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts standards.
- Liaises with Front Desk and engineering and other related departments to coordinate guest services and resolve emerging issues promptly.
- Helps to develop standard operating procedures/policies to ensure that the highest level of cleanliness, maintenance and aesthetic values are achieved.
- Works laterally with departments to work toward common goals that drive the quality of the Hotel, both in the Front of House and Heart of House.
- Assists in coaching, developing & managing the performance of the Housekeeping colleagues through formal (conducting performance reviews and performance discussions) and informal (daily coaching) ways.
- Provides input and assistance as required for all guest room renovation projects.
- Helps to build and maintain high morale in department.
- Participates in the training of new colleagues and assists them in the learning and understanding of the standards with Fairmont Hotels and resorts.
- Assists in the prioritization/preparation of all guestrooms with the Housekeeping colleagues.
- Carries out room inspections daily, including guestrooms, special attention guestrooms, and/or VIP guestrooms to ensure standards are maintained.
- Oversees the Fairmont Fit program on a daily basis
- Oversees the department in the absence of the Executive Housekeeper.
- Completes all other projects and tasks as assigned.
- Service focused personality is essential and previous leadership experience required
- Prior experience working with Opera or a related system
- Proven ability to build and maintain good relationships with all stakeholders
- Communicate thoughts, actions and opportunities clearly with strong networking skills
- Ability to lead by example, believe in a strong team culture and set the scene for high performance

Requirements

Your experience and skills include:

- Proven ability to lead and motivate a large, multi-cultural team.
- Must be available to work on weekends, evenings and holidays.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Energized by a challenge and an ability to work under pressure
- Strong organizational skills and time management skills.
- Driven by results with a strong focus on detail
- Ability to make decisions on the spot with little direction given.
- Ability to be flexible with schedules, assignments and additional duties.
- Degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management preferred.
- Minimum 2-3 years experience at a Supervisory or Manager level within Rooms division.
- Proficiency in Property Manager.
- Knowledge of Word and Excel and asset.
