Job description / Role
• Provide leadership and direction to Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and Supervision Teams.
• Assist in the preparation of Project Implementation Plan (PIP) principally for those elements that are directly related to HSE.
• Review and provide comments on the health and safety plans prepared by contractors.
• Review and oversee procedures for investigating construction incidents.
• Prepare and present written and oral reports to Management, as required.
• Remains informed and aware of legislation regarding safety requirements of the Construction Industry and keeps management informed regarding new statutory safety requirements.
• Enforce HR, Quality and HSE Policies and department procedures and ensure adherence to all applicable Company and country regulations by employees within the Department.
• Ensure all Safety Officers are certified by Dubai Municipality, Trakhees, DSO authority other government body as per the requirement of the Project.
• For administrative issues, technical issues and performance evaluation, the HSE Manager reports to the General Manager.
• The HSE Manager coordinates with the Projects Manager, Civil Engineer on HSE matters related to Supervision projects.
• The HSE Manager communicates regularly with a number of different levels from junior staff through to senior management level and establishes a good working relationship with all employees.
Requirements
• Degree in Construction Engineering / occupational safety or related field from an accredited university.
• Minimum of 16 years of managerial experience in construction safety..
• MS Office: - Advanced knowledge of Excel, MS Word, and Windows based PC applications.
• ERP Knowledge a plus.
• Strong familiarity with all applicable laws governing construction safety and with principles and standards of safety and risk management.
• Ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally across all levels.
• Ability to analyze situations, identify problems and recommend solutions.
• Good planning, organization and presentation capability.
• Good team leader with concern for effectiveness, efficiency, quality and safety.
• Excellent English languages skills – written and spoken. Arabic would be an asset.
