Role purpose:
To lead, own and manage the infrastructure cloud, on-prem and network function in line with the technology department strategy, DCT strategy and Abu Dhabi digital strategy. Drive the transformation of the infrastructure and network capabilities, moving towards digital cloud native infrastructure, ensure resilience and operational efficiency and functioning of infrastructure and network function by providing critical infrastructure to power end-user applications to ensure high availability across our infrastructure and application landscape.
Key responsibilities:
IT infrastructure design and implementation
- Play an active role in the development and execution of the department’s strategic plan, contributing insights and recommendations related to infrastructure and network needs.
- Develop the architecture plan for DCT’s IT infrastructure ensuring the optimisation, scalability, high availability and security of the components by adopting best technologies.
- Deploy best industry practices to ensure availability of IT infrastructure to meet the business needs across all sectors and departments of DCT in alignment with the AD digital strategy.
- Propose the annual budget by evaluating IT infrastructure needs of DCT and its ecosystem (including museums) and suggest appropriate investment to enhance IT infrastructure performance.
- Proactively monitor and ensure operational efficiency and functioning of IT infrastructure across DCT such as corporate servers, network performance and security and communication operations.
- Recommend and implement infrastructure and network upgrades to improve operational and cost efficiency and support the organization’s long-term goals.
Network management
- Supervise network security function by setting up policies, optimisation and upgrading security devices and solutions to ensure secured IT platform. Implement intrusion detection systems to ensure prevention of malicious and policy violations.
- Ensure configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of network devices and monitor deployment of new network systems to ensure consistent network connectivity and optimum performance.
- Oversee management of communication systems such as VPN, routers, IP telephones, switches etc. Ensure remote communication and network services are functioning efficiently.
- Provide support and troubleshooting for network issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to services.
- Ensure high service levels are maintained and consistent support to the users to enhance and retain user satisfaction.
Disaster and business continuity
- Develop an end-to-end disaster recovery in alignment with the business application and business continuity.
- Lead the response to infrastructure and network incidents in coordination with respective departments to restore services in a timely manner.
Project management
- Lead infrastructure and network-related projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and budget.
- Monitor project progress, addressing any challenges promptly.
Shared activity
Strategic contribution
- Ensure effective cascading of the functional strategy into section business plans to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing sectional strategies.
People management
- Manage the effective achievement of assigned objectives through the leadership of the section by setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff to maximize performance.
- Lead the P&P systems initiatives for the assigned section, collaborating with technical and discipline experts and thereby ensure the availability of talent to fit business requirements.
- Act as a role model and drive adherence to organizational values and ethics by employees of the assigned section to foster a value-driven culture within the organization.
Budgeting and financial planning
- Manage the preparation and recommend the section budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget while ensuring all sectional activities are conducted in line with the approved guidelines.
Policies, systems, processes and procedures
- Manage and ensure effective implementation of functional policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of assigned section activity so that all relevant procedural and legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
Continuous improvement
- Lead the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction.
Reporting
- Ensure that all section reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet DCT requirements, policies and quality standards.
EHS (Environment, health and safety)
- Comply with all relevant EHS guidelines, policies and procedures, by reporting incidents and hazards in a timely manner, and reduce consumption of natural resources to support protecting the environment and ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
