Job Description
The Institute of Public Health (IPH) at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University, is seeking to appoint a full-time Instructor to contribute to its teaching and research activities in Public Health Genomics. We are looking to appoint a suitable candidate with training, experience and achievements in the field of Public Health Genomics.

The successful candidate will also share administrative work in the IPH and the College of Medicine including serving on committees, invigilating examinations and contributing to student assessments.

Prospective applicants are expected to have the ability to work independently and take academic initiatives. Demonstrated awareness of cultural, privacy and confidentiality issues as well as good team working skills and flexibility with working hours is expected. Fluency in English is required. A working knowledge of additional languages such as Arabic, Urdu/Hindi or other languages will be an advantage.

Requirements

Minimum Qualification
The Instructor must hold a master degree and doctoral degree in Public Health from an accredited university. Applicants should have teaching and research experience in the field of Public Health and overall practical and academic experience in the above field.

Preferred Qualification
DrPH or PhD in Public Health with special emphasis on genomics.

Expected Skills/Rank/Experience
Applicants should have a track record in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. The successful candidate will contribute to programs of undergraduate and graduate teaching, including the MPH and PhD programs as well as professional training. He/she will be coordinating courses and supervise students. The IPH has a thriving graduate teaching program and currently has 23 PhD students and 35 MPH students. Academic rank will be commensurate to qualifications. Furthermore, (s)he should be accomplished in conducting and supervising research projects. Experience with qualitative research methods are essential. It is expected that (s)he will have published their research findings in peer-reviewed international scientific journals. A key requirement for the successful candidate will be their ability to serve as the principal investigator in research projects relevant to public health genomics. Particular skills in developing strong links with other educational establishments, health authorities, hospitals, government agencies and other institutions in the UAE and the wider region will be considered an important qualification. Experience in international collaboration is preferred. The successful candidate will have ample opportunities to collaborate with colleagues in the College of Medicine and other UAEU colleges in addition to local and regional institutions
