International Tax Senior Manager

Job description / Role

As an International Tax Senior Manager, your primary focus will be to build the International Tax practice through proactively identifying and selling tax planning / risk management solutions to large multinational organizations headquartered in Dubai. Building client relationships with existing key clients and identifying new client opportunities through structured business development effort to contribute to the overall growth of the ITS practice in the MENA region.

The role would involve advising clients on the various regional and international tax implications of their operations. You will demonstrate an understanding of increasingly complex international tax concepts and effectively apply your tax knowledge to client situations, developing and delivering innovative tax planning ideas with timely, responsive services and work products that exceed client expectations. As a Senior Manager, you will take the lead in developing recommendations and implementation plans, and making informed decisions in complex areas. Your remit will include managing the work of client service team members and staff and participating in and contributing to the achievement of team goals.

The position is based in Dubai (UAE), a city that offers a unique geographical location to our clients as a hub for the Middle East, Africa and as the gateway between Europe and Asia. The influx of foreign investment and local companies expanding their outbound activities offers a great opportunity for International Tax professionals to gain hands-on experience in an emerging market in a growing and dynamic team.

Client responsibilities
- Independently lead and participate in the International Tax engagements
- Assist partners / directors with generating new business opportunities and building client networks and relationships
- Understand our service offerings and actively identify opportunities to serve clients better
- Assist in managing engagement economics by organizing staffing, tracking fees and communicating issues to project leaders
- Be comfortable with a demanding project management/central role in Dubai for inbound/through-bound investment into MENA and beyond
- Collaborate with a team of International Tax professionals to combine diverse cross-border experience with local tax knowledge across a broad spectrum of industries
- Work as part of a multi-jurisdictional/disciplinary team in terms of pursuing, managing and delivering engagements. As part of this there must be a drive to ensure that all deliverables meet the EY quality standard
- Manage the preparation of reports and schedules that will be delivered to clients and other parties
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel. Manage a personal client portfolio in terms of dealing with and managing all the tax affairs of that client account, keeping them abreast of tax developments and advise on how it might affect their group
- Ensure engagements comply with all aspects of internal risk management as well as managing the economics of all jobs
- Meet financial and non-financial KPIs on an annual basis

People responsibilities
- Help people to develop through effectively supervising, coaching and mentoring staff
- Conduct performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for staff
- Contribute to people initiatives, including recruiting, retaining and training international tax professionals
- Maintain an educational program to develop personal skills on an ongoing basis
- Understand and follow workplace policies and procedures

Requirements

- Broad exposure to international taxation with focus on outbound investments is essential
- Big 4 or similar consulting experience within a mature market is required
- A minimum of six (with a master's degree) or seven years (with a bachelor's degree) of relevant Big 4 international tax experience.
- A bachelor's degree with strong academic credentials – taxation, accounting, business, finance or a related field essential. MBA, Masters of Tax or LLM in Tax would be a plus.
- CTA, ADIT or equivalent professional qualification
