Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Screening for new investment ideas and conducting deep fundamental research and analysis of individual companies / fixed-income instruments - as well as sector, regional and economic trends.
- Meeting with management teams of prospect investee companies on a frequent basis.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with various investment sector vendors and service providers (i.e. investment funds, Investment banks, brokers, custodians and research houses, among others in the investment community at large).
- Drafting and presenting investment material to the investment committee.
- Constant monitoring of the portfolio – monitoring latest news/developments on the underlining positions in the portfolio as well as any possible macro-economic impacts.
- Ensuring investment portfolio compliance with insurance authority regulations, and keeping abreast potentially new regulations in the future.
- Assists in developing and implementing internal controls to safeguard the assets of the portfolio.
- Manages resources efficiently.
- Maintain a regular contact with the investment committee – to assist in providing daily updates, weekly commentaries and quarterly letters highlighting the portfolio activity.

Requirements

Qualifications

- Must have at least 7 years of experience in investment management in both equities and fixed-income with exposure to the region (MENA/GCC)
- Proven strong performance track record.
- Must demonstrate strong analytical ability and understanding of underlying company business fundamentals. Thorough analytical skills with deep understanding of investment fundamentals and valuation.
- Highly research oriented – should be able to conduct rigorous research with a bottoms up approach. Should be able to identify the right kind questions which need to be answered in order to arrive at a clear investment thesis with due appreciation for underlying risks.
- Should also be able to monitor, analyze and formulate views on key macroeconomic trends that could affect the investment portfolio.
- Communication skills – ability to articulate clearly an investment case thoroughly in writing and in speech. Ability to clearly communicate an organized line of thought is key.
- Result oriented with good managerial, organizational and negotiation skills.
- Working knowledge of tools such as Microsoft Office, Bloomberg, Reuters and other analytical platforms.
- Preferably with a CFA / Masters of Finance or equivalent designation.
- Fluent in Arabic and English.
