Role Overview

My client, a leading global hedge fund, is seeking a junior trader to join its proprietary trading arm in Dubai. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated, technically strong candidate to develop within a high-performing trading team at one of the world's most dynamic financial hubs.

As a junior trader, you will play a key role in supporting the firm's commodities trading strategies, with an initial focus on energy markets (power and gas). The role is execution-driven and highly collaborative, working closely with senior traders and researchers to deliver results in a fast-paced, competitive environment.

This position offers broad exposure across discretionary and systematic trading businesses, supporting activities such as:

• Trade monitoring and execution across energy products
• Developing tools and processes to improve trading efficiency
• Strategy and performance monitoring
• Managing and refining data pipelines
• Post-trade analysis and reporting

This role will require shift work.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute trades with accuracy and timeliness to support the prop trading desk
• Monitor positions, risk, and strategy performance in real time
• Collaborate with traders and researchers on strategy implementation
• Build and enhance analytical tools and dashboards to streamline workflows
• Maintain and improve data processes and infrastructure
• Support both discretionary and systematic trading teams where required

Candidate Profile

• Graduate with 0-3 years of experience, ideally within power, gas, or energy trading
• Strong understanding of commodities and financial markets
• Proficiency in Python (essential) for data analysis, automation, and tool building
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Detail-oriented, execution-focused, and able to thrive in a high-pressure environment
• Willingness to work in shift patterns to cover global market hours
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
