Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Overview of duties
• Contributes to guest satisfaction and safety by respecting hygiene standards and procedures
• Cleans and maintains hotel crockery, cooking and kitchen equipment
• Ensures everything is tidy during the washing process and in storage
• Helps prepare cold dishes and desserts

Main responsibilities
• Actions cleaning duties within the kitchen, food preparation areas and scullery.
• Operates dish washing machine as per instruction manual
• General pantry duties and maintain cleanliness of pantry, fridges and freezers
• Assembly and preparation of ingredients for cooking
• Assist in the preparation of food as directed by the Executive Sous Chef or Chef Steward
• Ensure all food produced is in line with kitchen recipes and standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and rotation of stock in pantry, fridge and freezers
• Assist with the receiving and storing of stock
• Ensure all kitchens are kept clean and tidy according to current Health & Hygiene regulations.
• Ensure each outlet is supplied with sanitized clean and dry operational equipment.
• To count, sort and prepare operating equipment as required.
• Ensure all operating equipment, crockery, cutlery & glassware is hygienically and safely stored.
• Ensure correct handling of chemicals and equipment as per manufacturer’s instructions.
• Follow the regular cleaning rosters and standard methods for deep cleaning of floors, walls, coolers, ovens & operating equipment.
• To contribute to cost control through energy conservation and the careful use of water, cleaning materials and other appliances
• Ensure garbage is collected and disposed of correctly from all kitchen areas each shift.
• Utilize safe and hygienic methods for the removal of dry and wet waste.
• Cleans and tidies crockery and kitchen equipment
• Ensures the working areas are clean
• Checks the washing equipment is in good working order and informs his/her superior of any problems or anomalies • Respects the supplier's instructions for use of washing-up products
• Helps receive deliveries and tidies food items according to the storage guidelines

Requirements

Education / Professional experience
• Fluent English, Knowledge in additional language is definitely an advantage
• Previous experience in a multicultural environment is essential
