Lab Chemist

Job description / Role

Our client, a global leader with diversified products, is currently in search of a Lab Chemist

This is a contracting staffing role under Manpower for a contract period of 12 months (Renewable depending on company requirements and/or individual performance).

Job descriptions:
- Perform chemical, biological, and physical tests on Crude Oil distillation, water samples
- Utilize a wide variety of laboratory equipment
- Monitor and review the results of the quality assurance/control program; analyze laboratory data and recommend treatment modifications; present data analysis in tabular and graphical forms.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records of laboratory procedures and results; ensure compliance with government regulations; prepare analytical work sheets and reports.
- Assess laboratory equipment needs and train laboratory personnel in new equipment operation.
- Assist the Laboratory Supervisor in coordinating the activities and operations of the laboratory and overseeing lower level staff.
- Collect samples from the wastewater treatment plant, collection system and receiving waters.
- Troubleshoot, clean and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Monitor laboratory supply levels.
- Perform a variety of special projects as assigned.
- Provide lab training to plant personnel on proper lab methods, procedures, and techniques.
- Perform related duties as required.

- Laboratory techniques, equipment, terminology and procedures.
- Principles and practices of qualitative and quantitative chemistry, biology and bacteriology.
- Principles of chemical, biological and physical analysis.
- Mathematical calculations used in chemical analyses.
- Proper sample collection procedures and techniques.
- Modern laboratory procedures, methods and computer equipment.
- Principles and procedures of record keeping. Basic mathematics.
- Advanced modern technology.
- Principles of lead supervision and training.
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
- Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations.
