Job description - Lead electrical engineer
Job purpose
- Provide technical leadership for electrical engineering within FEED and detail engineering projects in the oil & gas sector in accordance with international IEC, NEC, ADNOC codes and standards.
- Define electrical design bases, codes, standards, and deliverables to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams (process, mechanical, civil, piping, instrumentation) and vendors to ensure integrated electrical systems.
- Mentor engineers, drive quality, and ensure schedule adherence for electrical deliverables across project phases.
- Work experience in ADNOC projects is preferred.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise and leadership in all electrical engineering aspects of the ADNOC projects both onshore and offshore.
- Lead the electrical design and engineering team to ensure project deliverables are met within the specified timeline and budget.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
- Conduct technical reviews, analysis, and assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
- Develop and review electrical engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior electrical engineers and support staff.
- Develop and implement electrical engineering strategies and plans to meet project objectives.
- Review and approve technical specifications, drawings, and calculations for electrical systems.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations in all electrical engineering activities.
- Coordinate with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to address electrical engineering requirements and resolve technical issues.
- Participate in project meetings, progress reviews, and risk assessments to provide input on electrical engineering matters.
- Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor the progress and quality of electrical installations.
- Support procurement activities by preparing technical specifications, evaluating bids, and selecting electrical equipment and materials.
- Assist in the preparation of project proposals, cost estimates, and schedules related to electrical engineering scope.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering to drive innovation and efficiency in project delivery.
Experience
- 15+ years of experience in FEED and detail engineering and EPCM experience in the oil & gas industry.
- ADNOC EPC/PMC experience is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated track record delivering electrical design and integration on FEED/detail projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of electrical engineering in a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in electrical engineering within the oil and gas industry.
- Previous experience in FEED, design, onshore, and brownfield projects.
Technical skills
- Strong knowledge and experience in electrical engineering principles and practices.
- Proficiency in electrical design software and tools.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
