Lead Pipeline Designer

Job description / Role

Wood is currently looking for a Lead Pipeline Designer to join our In-house Engineering team in Dubai, UAE.

Responsibilities

Primary Role:

• To promote safe behavior at all times
• To support Lead Pipeline Engineer in developing cost effective pipeline design and drawings
• To ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule
• To coordinate with other disciplines for interdisciplinary checks
• Display a working knowledge of industry standard drafting practices, good mechanical aptitude and general knowledge of engineering

Technical Skills

• To prepare pipeline route studies, desktop studies based on survey inputs
• To prepare Pipeline Overall Route Maps, Key Plans, Alignment Sheets, Station Approach drawings, pipeline typical construction drawings, etc. in accordance with project specifications, international codes and standards
• Preparation of Pipeline Detail / Bulk MTO
• To carry out detailed high quality site visits, pipeline route surveys and associated data collection
• To compile site visit / route survey report as required
• To coordinate with other disciplines during all stages of pipeline design and drawings development
• To provide technical support to site as required
• Familiarity with key pipeline design codes and standards
• Preparation of Piping input Drawings for On-plot / off-plot interface areas at Process Plant
• Coordination with Topographical Contractors and site personnel for preparation of AFC Alignment sheets
• Must be eligible and willing to make occasional visits to Basra, Iraq.

Qualifications

Educational Attainments:

• Diploma or HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or relevant subject)

Business & Industry Experience:

• Minimum of 15 years relevant Pipeline Designing experience
• Last 15 years hands-on SmartPlant 3D experience
• Experience in FEED, Brownfield, Upstream Oil
• PDS / PDMS experience required
• Experience in site survey activities and techniques
• Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage
