Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

PURPOSE: To lead and manage a team responsible for credit analysis and risk evaluation of Corporate Credit proposals; to consider proposals and provide sign-off/decline and to manage a designated credit portfolio in order to maintain the asset quality and protect the bank against the risk of default.

Guidance and Support
Provide, guidance and support to a team of direct reports during the process of analysing credit risk on lending proposals which have been submitted by business, in order to ensure that all dimensions of risk have been considered.

Credit Risk Evaluation
Receive completed risk analyses and recommendations from the team and assess for compliance to banks policy and standards; provide check and challenge in order to consider the proposal for approval. Provide sign-off or decline the credit proposals within own designated DLA and submit proposals to higher authorities where amounts are above own mandate in order to provide lending decisions back to business.

Portfolio Management
Manage the portfolio of assets within the designated business segment through monitoring and remedial actions in order to ensure maintenance of asset quality and prevent or minimise the risk of credit default.

Capital Implications and Risk Weighted Assets
Monitor capital implications in risk assessment notes associated with each type of asset class to ensure the capital adequacy of the bank is maintained within regulatory and Board of Directors mandated levels.

Legal Risk
Monitor proposals to ensure these are accurately legally structured in line with local and international standard documentation (such as LMA and ISDA) in order to minimise loss for the bank

Macro-Economic Environment
Monitor loan proposals in the context of the prevailing macro-economic environment in order to reduce the banks’ exposure to higher risk economic segments

Risk Systems
Review classification and reporting of different asset types to ensure they are accurately captured in the bank’s core banking systems

Project Management
Provide subject matter advice and expertise on all risk related projects in order to ensure implemented in a manner which supports the risk management framework for the bank

People Management
Manage self and team in line with ADCB’s people management policies, procedures, processes and practices to ensure adherence and to maximise own and employee contribution to business performance. Manage the effective achievement of the team’s objectives through setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing the team and providing formal and informal feedback to maximise overall performance, engagement and motivation.

Identify opportunities to contribute to organisational and departmental change initiatives, programmes and projects taking into account best practice and standards in the business environment

Budget Management
Contribute to the preparation of the business area’s budget and manage and monitor the financial performance against the budget so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon

Policies, Processes, Systems and Procedures
Recommend and implement improvements to departmental policies, procedures and processes covering all areas of activity so that all relevant procedural requirements are fulfilled while ensuring that delivers best-in-class services, products and innovation

Customer Service
Demonstrate Our Promise and apply the ADCB Service Standards to deliver the bank’s required levels of service in all internal and external customer interactions

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Business; Economics; Finance or Accounting
• At least 15 years of experience in banking with at least 8 years in credit risk management in senior credit manager position in a commercial banking environment

Knowledge and Skills
Risk Analysis/Assessment/Management Skills, Financial Analysis/Assessment Skills, Microsoft Office (Word; Excel and PowerPoint)
