Jumeirah College is a GEMS Premium Secondary School which delivers the National Curriculum for England, offering the full range of GCSE and A level courses. About Your Benefits
The Support for Learning department. The aim of the Support for Learning department is to assist in developing the academic, behavioural, and social development of students identified as in need of extra support as outlined in the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Code of Practice (SEND CoP) and the KHDA. Learning Support at Jumeirah College values the contribution from each and every student and welcomes diversity of culture, religion and intellectual style. Each student is unique and has individual needs. They learn at different rates and reach milestones at different times, and this process continues throughout lifelong learning. In every class at school there will be students who may, at some time during their school years, have specific educational needs identified. These learning difficulties could be short or long term. Jumeirah College works in partnership with parents to monitor their child's development and, where there are concerns, take steps to help him/her to learn more effectively - to maximise inclusion and opportunities for all students.

Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree or higher, or Bachelor of Education
- A recognised qualification for teaching in schools
- Learning Support Qualification
- At least 3 years' experience working within a learning support department, in a secondary school
- Experienced practitioner, able to motivate and support students with a wide range of learning barriers
- Ability to use standardised assessments and screening tools to identify barriers to learning
- Deep understanding of the IEP process, able to led collaborative IEP meetings
- CPT3A and/or an understanding of the exams access arrangements process
- Commitment to Professional Development
- Competent in the use of Information and Communication Technology
- Commitment to Safeguarding and child protection
- Showing respect for all members of the school and wider community

Together with a high level of educational attainment, a successful applicant will demonstrate strong communication skills in teaching ideas, texts, and concepts with precision and confidence. Critically, an applicant must possess a high GPA in his/her major, excellent recommendations, experience working with children and be open to new ideas in teaching.
