Legal Associate in International M&A at an International Law Firm

Employment: Full Time

We are looking for a talented M&A lawyer to join our corporate team in Dubai to complement our growing corporate practice in the MENA region.

The role will involve primarily transactional work in M&A, private equity and joint venture transactions. Candidates are likely to have a general skill set with proven experience in M&A deal work (see “Skills and experience section” below for specific details of applicable requirements).

Key responsibilities:

• As a key part of the corporate team based in Dubai, you will be required to contribute proactively and enthusiastically to the above strategic objectives via structured business development activity with the internal and external market.
• You will also be expected to develop close working relationships with appropriate office contacts throughout the business both nationally and internationally.
• The roles will cover the full remit of corporate transactional work including all aspects of client generation, client work and relationship management, business development and financial management.

Requirements

• Trained in the corporate department of a major international law firm and have strong academic background/qualifications.
• Must be US, UK or Australia qualified.
• Arabic communication skills would be preferable but we will consider candidates who don’t. Ideally Dubai based but we would also be interested in speaking to candidates that can relocate within the next 3 months.
• We’d like to speak to candidate who have 1-3 years PQE at an international firm.
• Demonstrated a high level of technical skill and competence with demonstrated experience in M&A transactions including, at an absolute minimum, experience in each of the following areas:
• Carrying out due diligence exercises on a multi-jurisdictional basis;
• Being responsible for drafting due diligence reports’
• Drafting/negotiating share and asset purchase agreements;
• Drafting/negotiating shareholder/JV agreements;
• Managing deal closings; and
• Strong knowledge/familiarity with basic corporate housekeeping matters (including entity formation/maintenance).
• Consistently achieved your personal financial/billing targets
• Demonstrated good networking skills, business development opportunities and an ability to build strong client relationships.
• An ability to manage a heavy workload and the competing demands of clients which arise from running a number of separate transactions at once.
• Built great relationships with colleagues you work with in other practice groups.
