Team Structure
The role reports into the Office Managing Partner in Dubai. There will then be a dotted line to the BD director in London who manages the global BD function, comprising communications and PR, client development, practice group BD support, web/projects, and events. The role is quite autonomous with room to grow the role over time.

Main Responsibilities
• Manage a number of competitive pitches concurrently (including Middle East panel proposals), drafting persuasive and accurate content with tailored messages, often to tight deadlines
• Work with the partners to produce and deliver our own outstanding client events and suggesting opportunities to co-host events with relevant market bodies and other industry stakeholders
• Create customised credentials documents highlighting our expertise across all practice areas
• Drive the media plan and social media activity, and place articles in relevant media (liaising with the communications and PR team in London)
• Manage the Legal 500 and Chambers submission process for submissions for agreed practice areas and be responsible for producing high quality submissions for these and other industry sector award events in Dubai
• Identify themes in the market, review competitor activity and make recommendations on our approach
• Act as the key driving force for action for internal and intra-office communication
• Develop, with the partners, business/BD plans for each practice area and provide support for the implementation of individual partner and practice area plans
• Work with the brand and marketing manager in London to champion best practice of InterAction (our CRM system) and compliance with our recently revised brand guidelines.

Requirements

This role would suit someone willing to get involved in the full range of BD activity. This will range from BD advice to partners and associates, to working with secretarial teams on mailing lists and events. You will need to be willing to get into the detail of events and seminars but then have the ability to think more broadly about how the firm, partners and practice areas in Dubai should raise their profile. You will be of graduate calibre with at least five years of BD experience in a professional services environment. Some knowledge of the practice areas covered and/or the Dubai market would be beneficial, though this is not essential. This role may suit an executive in a larger BD team looking to make the step up to manager level – or a manager looking for more responsibility and a more autonomous role.

To be the chosen candidate for this position you will need to be currently based in Dubai, with at least 5 years previous experience working in a Business Development team at an international law firm.
