Legal Counsel

Job description / Role

A new opportunity has arisen to work for a multinational business who operate within the engineering and service industry. The client run their MENA operations from the UAE and currently, the Head of Legal MENA is seeking to hire an experienced Legal Counsel to assist with the responsibility for all legal and compliance matters, adhering to Multinational Company’s policies, procedures and Applicable Laws for the Group and all its subsidiaries.

Responsibilities will include:

• Provide sound legal support and advice and take legal action in respect of all general corporate and commercial matters, issues and queries received from various divisions and subsidiaries.
• Review, drafting and negotiation of major contracts and carrying out of contract risk assessments
• Discuss, negotiate, coordinate and follow up on legal issues with external lawyers and provide all requirements to support the execution of legal matters.
• Participating with the management in the determination of appropriate discipline for non-compliance by officers or employees of the Company with Company policies or Applicable Laws.
• Perform legal research to ensure that the company is in compliance with the most recent rules and regulations of the country.
• Ensure compliance with applicable export control laws including U.S. and E.U.
• Oversee litigious and alternative dispute resolution matters
• Assist the Legal head and compliance officer as and when required.
• Any other tasks that may be requested by your line manager from time to time.

Requirements

Essential

Qualifications: Bar Qualified & Law Degree, Masters is an advantage

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience practicing Corporate commercial law
• Minimum 2 years experience working in a heavily compliance orientated multinational company (Knowledge of both UK and US compliance laws including export compliance would be advantageous)
• Exposure to, or experience working within a Multinational business is essential

Preferred

• Experience of working within a sales, service, engineering industry would be beneficial
