Our newest opportunity is for a talented Legal Counsel, fluent in both written and spoken English and Arabic, to join our award-winning team based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. We will also consider candidates in Abu Dhabi, UAE .

This critical role will act as an advisor to KEO's senior management and assist the General Counsel identify and manage the legal issues and affairs of KEO and its associated interests across the GCC and Europe.

Responsibilities

We envisage success in this role to include:

- Assists in the co-ordination of KEO activities, in conjunction with the engagement of external legal counsel (as appropriate), related to any litigation, arbitration or other legal proceedings in which KEO is involved. Assists in determining the need for further external legal advice.
- Reviews RFP/ITT Terms and Contract Conditions and prepares KEO draft qualifications.
- Reviews tender/contract insurance requirements (in conjunction with Finance Division).
- Reviews Letters of Award or Contract Documents for the appropriateness of execution including preparation of any necessary contractual amendments.
- Drafting, preparation of and advice concerning JV Agreements, MOUs, LOIs, LOAs, NDAs, Client/KEO Services Agreements, KEO/Sub-consultant Agreements, and other Third Party Agreements.
- Assists in negotiations with the Clients, Consultants and Contractors, on contract terms and conditions and on all project related issues of contractual significance.
- Assists in providing advice to KEO senior management on claims and contractual issues including, bonds, insurances, indemnities and so on.
- Negotiations with Clients, Consultants and Contractors on contract terms and conditions and on all project related issues of contractual significance.
- Liaises with and assists the Business Services Departments of KEO with their contractual / legal needs.
- Assists in preparing proposals for new Claims Management /Claims Review services appointments.
- Participates in publication of legal/contractual articles as part of the firms marketing strategy for the Claims Management and Dispute Resolution Services.
- Prepares and executes contract amendments / supplemental agreements and Variations as required.
- Provides contract interpretation and guidance in contract administration during the course of live projects, e.g. to ensure that any formal Notices that may be required under a Contract are properly and timeously sent.
- Provides contractual assistance in the preparation of major claims to be submitted by KEO to clients or other parties.
- Provides contractual assistance in the defense of claims against KEO made by third parties.
- Peer reviews, prior to submission, any significant claims prepared by KEO project teams.
- Assists in the development and implementation of KEO's legal and commercial risk policies.
- Assists with invoices review and approval.
- Pursues payment (Claims Managements Services).
- Assists with projects close out.
- Assists in overseeing KEO's litigious disputes and manage the appointment of external legal services providers.

Requirements

Qualifications

- To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that you will bring a minimum of 8 years' career experience with a Bachelor of Law or equivalent. Masters level qualification will be viewed favorably.
- Experience working in the construction industry is required as knowledge of construction terms and principles is a pre-requisite in this position. Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English is also essential.
