Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Job Purpose: The role holder will ensure compliance and integrity in all business transactions and operations; draft, review and negotiate all types of legal documents and agreements involving the application of general corporate and commercial, as well as specialist financial, laws and concepts, and provide Taaleem with all necessary legal support to ensure that the company’s interests are protected at all times.

Key Accountabilities:
• Advise and counsel Taaleem’s executive officers, leaders and managers on all compliance matters
• Manage a high volume of legal projects (bespoke, advisory and transactional) within defined time periods.
• Manage a variety of legal cases for ongoing and ad-hoc issues and projects
• Responsibility for controlling & monitoring legal spend in accordance with set budgets and anticipating future requirements with relation to the outsourcing of legal support for specific projects.
• Review, draft and negotiate various legal documentation, maintain records and files accordingly, and advise on the authority of such documents.
• Advise leaders within Taaleem of the legal implications of proposed policy and management decisions and specific legal issues referred to Legal Counsel after carrying out the necessary research and analysis.
• Advise or recommend from a legal perspective on actions to be taken or refrained from in respect of the issues referred to or topics raised by the company.
• Advise the company’s officers on legal risks associated with business operations, their potential impact and suggest risk mitigating strategies.
• Conduct regular audits of documentation (including on site at schools), to ensure the business is operating within the law and applying best practice to safeguard children, adults and the company at all times.
• Maintain the company’s risk register, and report on risks and compliance issues to Audit Committee
• Follow up with schools and heads of department to ensure all legal documentation, approvals and licenses are consistently accurate and properly maintained

Requirements

• Qualified Corporate Lawyer (LLB, LPC, GDL and LPC or equivalent as appropriate)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role in the UAE

Competencies:
Strong Contract Drafting and Management skills, Litigation / Dispute Management and Resolution, Advocacy, People Management and Leadership, Compliance, Working with regulatory bodies, Strategic planning and Business development, Outstanding verbal and written communication, Project Management.
