About Legal and Governance

Mubadala's Legal & Governance division is responsible for all aspects of legal, regulatory, and governance matters across the Mubadala Group. By working closely with each Sector and Division, we protect and promote the best interests of the company by identifying and managing legal and regulatory risks affecting Mubadala, its assets and its investments.

In close coordination with both the Divisions and Sectors, we engage at the outset of all projects and transactions; we draft and negotiate the documents relating to such projects and transactions and we play a critical role in monitoring and, where necessary, enforcing Mubadala's contractual and legal rights.

The Challenge

This is a dynamic role within the Mubadala Group where the successful candidate will form part of a closely-knit and growing team, which develops and manages a centralized ligation and regulatory affairs of the Mubadala Group. The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Litigation and Regulatory Affairs and serve as a trusted member of the team to (1) assist with and oversee litigations with both global and local spread, (2) support with matters in which the Mubadala Group faces regulatory scrutiny or enforcement action, (3) give regulatory advice; and (4) manage day-to-day administrative matters of the team, including management of external counsel.

Key Responsibilities

Litigation

The successful candidate will serve as a case manager for a wide range of disputes (both global and local) spanning across Mubadala Group's eight platforms. In particular, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Head of Litigation with executing litigation strategy, including overseeing external counsel, and advising and communicating with commercial teams about the same.

Regulatory Affairs

The successful candidate will be required to assist the Head of Regulatory Affairs in monitoring global developments of regulatory regimes that may affect the Mubadala Group and implementing relevant strategies to manage risks.

Operational Support

The position will provide a number of opportunities to assist with and oversee day-to-day operation of the Litigation and Regulatory Affairs function, including administrative management of external advisers and executing Mubadala's internal business protocol.

Requirements

Knowledge, skills and experience

- Bachelor or graduate-level degree, with distinction, in law from an internationally recognized higher education institution.
- Legal qualification from a common law jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in litigation or international arbitration, with four of those years from a top international law firm.
- Experience with regulatory law or regulatory process (such as sanctions or foreign investment controls) is an asset.
