Job description / Role
As part of the Emerson Automation Solutions Perfect Execution team, the Middle East & Africa (MEA) Logistics Manager will lead the logistics strategy in MEA and develop best practices in Business Excellence. Your scope will include all Automation Solutions Business Units and World Area teams to establish an agile, flexible and efficient logistics operation through a globally consistent, best-in-class processes and programs to increase long term customer loyalty.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Lead & drive Emerson Automation Solutions business in implementing corporate logistics initiatives, such as shipping software, Supply Chain Optimization (SCO) program, Freight Bill Audits, eSourcing etc.
• Engage in Emerson corporate team meetings, calls & other discussions; ensuring that the needs of MEA sites are taken into consideration.
• Ensure the Business Units comply with corporate logistics mandates & provide support to Business Unit Global Logistics Leaders
• Identify opportunities for improvement (cost, incoterms, transit time, reliability, leverage, etc) within business in the area of logistics
• Negotiate with logistics service providers on behalf of the business; lead & drive regular business/review meetings with carriers and suppliers
• Build strategic partnerships with Emerson’s marquee, preferred and developmental service providers to achieve world class performance needed to support business needs and priorities; set up quarterly business reviews with the service providers on service levels and optimization
• Lead Logistic KPI preparation and reviews to support World Area service level improvement through the adoption of the Perfect Execution framework
• Identify, implement and report progress of key logistics initiatives and develop strategies for exceptional logistic challenges such as dangerous goods.
• Collaborate with the Emerson Ineternational Trade Compliance (Import and Export) regulations to ensure adherence to trade laws, regulations, broker management and Governance.
• Drive the current Sourcing and Supply Chain assessment process, including assessment tools design and content, facilitating assessment reviews with business and improvement project selection.
Requirements
Emerson Automation Solutions is a complex global, matrix organization - this role requires the ability to manage and influence senior-level stakeholders and their expectations. Sitting within a small but collaborative team, this position calls for extensive knowledge of logistics & supply chain within the MEA region - it is a hands on role that requires you to be strategic as well as detail oriented.
You will be innovative, dynamic & able to effect change in short periods of time. Process improvement & engineering will be continuous, as will collaboration with the wider global group of Emerson logistics and supply chain teams.
8-10 years' logistics management experience within a multi-national is essential, along with user/implementation experience of a logistics software such as Trax, Oracle Transport Management would be advantageous.
A Bachelors' degree in Business Management, Logistics or related discipline is required and a MBA Supply Chain is preferred. A Professional Certification in Logistics is highly desirable.
Native level English written & verbal communication skills are mandatory, French and/or Arabic would be beneficial.
