Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

As directed by Head, Shared Investigation Services (SIS) AME and Head SIS MENAP or their delegate assist in conducting an investigation or manage as directed an investigation within region in order to minimise financial losses, reputational and regulatory risks, operational risk events involving criminal conduct, dishonesty or deliberate breaches of polices or regulations.

To help and promote, lead and manage throughout the Business, the culture and practise of SIS and to ensure staff adhere to proper risk management within the letter and spirit or relevant Laws and Regulations and all Group standards relating to Compliance.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
• Investigation capabilities. Conduct and assist as directed investigations within the region, other than those undertaken by group team. Ensure the investigations are in line with the Group standards for investigations in the country/region including escalation, case management, data capture, evidence management, electronic evidence review, reporting interviewing and attending before internal disciplinary panels as required.
• Sound stakeholder management to ensure appropriate senior management are kept informed of relevant investigative developments.
• As directed, oversee and as required investigate data leakage cases, and with Group Information Security assist in promoting awareness of the importance of confidentiality of bank information.
• Support Asset Tracing & Identification (“ATI”) requests as required, including undertaking directed searches and inquiries and submitting required forms in accordance with the ATI framework.
• Support Forensic Technology Investigations (“FTI”) requests as required including ensuring trained resources in the region are available to support FTI as directed.
• Support SIS management in conducting further inquiries and as necessary investigations of case as directed as part of the SIS proactive investigative developments.
• As directed, source, assess and escalate relevant intelligence relating to potential risks to the Bank, ensuring that a dedicated staff member is available to support and progress intelligence gathering and inter-regional/ Group SIS cooperation and intelligence sharing as required.
• Support Regulatory & Government Investigations are required, including assisting in data source identification and extraction.
• Support data analytics development and dissemination as required, including ensuring relevant management information is provided to stakeholders.
• Sound relationship management of other investigative units within the bank to ensure the effective and efficient use of investigative resources.
• Sound relationship management with law enforcement. Attending court cases where required. Coordination of business to provide a response to local production orders, court orders, request for information from regulators or law enforcement agencies.
• Monitor developments in financial crime and misconduct including internal trends and ensure regional team is aware if the same.
• As directed, assist in the co-ordination with GIA, Business and Operational Risk regarding investigation related findings to ensure adequate oversight and tracking of remediation.
• Co-ordination with Country Compliance to ensure adequate oversight and tracking of remediation of investigations related regulatory findings.
• Maintain relationships with relevant vendors in the region so that external specialist support is available when required.
• As directed, provide investigation related information to appropriate Country/ Regional Committees and attend as required.
• As required, and in consultation with Country FCC and/or Compliance, manage Anti-Bribery investigations in country.
• As required assist in responding to a search warrant, subpoena or documentary production order relating to an employee being served on the Bank.

Dimensions:
• Investigator will assist senior SIS staff to request and assist the business/ functions to take action in support of an investigation, including in relation to:
• Establishing terms of reference for the enquiry;
• Securing and preserving evidence;
• Requiring all staff to attend interviews;
• Requiring appropriate action in relation to staff (e.g. suspension during the investigation);
• Engaging in investigations;
• Defining communication protocols for the investigations.
• Sound understanding of investigative techniques.
• Sound understanding of principal statues/regulations affecting the Bank including UK Bribery Act, FCPA, relevant Whistleblowing legislation, relevant evidence and criminal legislation. Bribery Act FCA handbook. SCB internal policies and procedures on AML, Investigations, Sanctions and Fraud.

Requirements

• 5+ years investigative experience.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Previous regulatory experience or financial services industry and financial crime management experience.
• Superior report writing skills
• Sound working knowledge of MS Office suite particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Sound knowledge of information sources and evidence handling specifically with reference to electronic evidence.
• Sound judgment. Excellent collaborative and team playing skills. Diplomacy, empathy and a ‘can-do attitude’. Politeness, sensitivity and the ability to gently, but professionally stand your grand when needed.
• An inquisitive approach to practices, procedures and specific transactions. Personal authority and integrity. Independence, creativity, resourcefulness and resilience.
• Must possess ability to assess risk, strong leadership qualities, excellent interpersonal skills and multi cultural awareness and sensitivity.

Desirable
• CFE or like accreditation
• Foreign language skills applicable to region
• Sound knowledge of banking systems.
• Understanding of the key features of relevant financial crime and investigative related laws and regulations that affect the Group.
